By boy Gary made friends with a porcupine late last night. My Vet recommended he go to the ER as the quills can get embedded and possibly migrate. Best thing for him was sedation to make sure we got them all out. Everyone at the ER was great. They were very busy and the wait was long but since Gary’s injury was in no way life threatening, we were happy to wait. We expected this! Once in the care of the techs and Dr. Jacobson all 10 quills were safely extracted. From life saving emergencies to a quick quill pluck, thanks for all that you do! You are appreciated.

A week ago, we experienced one of the worst situations for our family. Our beloved perfectly healthy five year old dog fell ill literally over night. We brought him to the emergency room and got a truly terrible prognosis that his kidneys were shutting down. The staff and vets at this hospital were very understanding and provided us with the best course of treatment to stop the damage. The night nurse kept sending me pictures on our boy throughout the night, seeing how distraught we were. Sadly, there was no recovery and we had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy. Even in this terrible situation, I am very thankful that our dog was in their care for the last few days of his life. They treated him with respect and they treated us with compassion.

Westford used to be my go to for any pet emergency. After my last experience, I will never go there again. We brought our 2 year dog in for what we thought was a cold. The vet thought the same but did an x ray to be sure. Then things went sideways... Xray gave terrible news. There was zero empathy and only high pressure to take as much money out of my wallet as possible. Was quoted ~$7,000 to "further diagnose", and hurry, because this is serious! We asked for a few minutes to discuss. The vet was back repeatedly, pestering us. Not to mention trying to make us feel guilty for not having pet insurance. When you find yourself bringing a beloved furry family member to the emergency department, it is already a hard day. This day was the hardest, as I had to say goodbye to my Mollie, who had been with me for 12 years and through every major life transition of my life. The care and compassion that both Mollie and I received exceeded anything I could have hoped for. Mollie was truly doted on—she received a prompt evaluation, and every bit of care that could be offered was given with kindness, respect, and dignity. The administrative staff were compassionate and empathetic from my initial phone call, through check-in, and even as I was leaving. The ladies who were working the night of 7-29-25 were the most compassionate and sweetest people I have ever met in a vets office. My fur baby had passed away on the way to the ER and they were just so kind to me. Tammy ( I believe that was her name) told me she was working the desk all night and to call if I needed someone to talk to and recommended a book about animals in the after life. These ladies made a heartbreaking event a little less awful. ❤️
