VCA Shaker Road Animal Hospital

I'd like to express our deepest gratitude to VCA Shaker rd. animal hospital for their compassion and care of not only our beloved cat, but the comfort they gave us also. We had to make a difficult decision and Mischa Leavey, DVM, and Stephanie gave our Samhain the gift of passing with dignity, with us by his side. Thank you both for allowing us time with him (not rushing) and for the sweet paw prints created. We are forever grateful for your kindness.

Dr. Roy is the best exotic vet I have ever seen. I unfortunately had to have my bearded dragon euthanized and the entire staff was so kind, gentle, and empathetic during the entire process. Thank you to the entire staff for making such a difficult decision as comforting as possible ❤️

After a pretty upsetting experience with the South Hadley location (they turned my sick ferret away for being 13 mins late in a blizzard - actually turned around in their parking lot and drove home, no compassion, no empathy, no sorry, just flat out uncaring which even further upset me - I left a review on their profile) The Longmeadow location, however, turned that around. They fit me in within the week after this, and they were wonderful with my ferret, it was warm and welcoming, I felt like they loved what they were doing and loved animals they way they should in that profession. Dr. Roy was very thorough and they even cleared the next day to fit my lil guys surgery in because it could not wait. Expensive yes, but its literally an operation - that's to be expected. I moved in the area of East Longmeadow and had all documents sent from my past vet to them in East Longmeadow. I visited them with both my dog and cat to start with checkups. I called to have my cat looked at because of a rash and said they had no appointments for 2 weeks. What Veterinary company doesn’t have slots for people asking to bring there animals that need to be seen is poor management for their customers animals to be seen. A rash, sprained foot or an animal with a cough, there should be slots open for animals to be seen. I wish I never left my Vetranerian in Agawam to go here. Agawam always had slots that day or the next day to be seen. Never again will I use this place for my animals to be seen. Past customer.

Giving major gratitude and kind words out to Dr. Roy, the ladies in the office, and the veterinary technicians! The front staff was so warm and inviting to me, the vet tech was extremely attentive in getting the details down about my two guinea pigs, and Dr. Roy is a paragon for what an excellent animal doctor should encompass: Not only did he listen to my concerns, but he "listened" to my two rescues in a way that I never expected two critters to be on their maiden voyage to a vet out of a rescue situation! They calmed immediately for him and he was excellent at explaining future eventualities to me. Anyone hesitant to try a VCA who has small critters, please give this DVM a chance!
