I got this cat and the attention was extremely good. The application process is very clear and the staff is awesome. They will check up on you and guide you into choosing your pet. They also helped me with supplies such as food, litter box, litter, a toy and a blanket for the cat.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about the animal shelter in Yonkers! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth, compassion, and genuine care for the animals. The staff and volunteers clearly go above and beyond to make sure every dog and cat is not only safe but truly loved while they wait for their forever homes. The shelter is clean, well-organized, and filled with animals that need our love, each one with their own story, and the team knows them all. What really stood out to me was the patience and kindness they show, not just to the animals but to everyone who walks through the door. You can feel how dedicated they are to their mission, and it’s inspiring. If you’re thinking of adopting, volunteering, or donating, please support this shelter and any others that you

We rescued our pitbull, Rocky, formerly Draco, from the Yonkers Animal Shelter this past weekend, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the staff at the front desk and then met Michele, a wonderful volunteer who took the time to walk us through the entire shelter. She showed us every single dog and shared so much about each one — it was amazing how well she knew all their personalities and histories. Michele truly went above and beyond to help us find the perfect fit for our family. Thanks to her, we met Rocky, who has quickly stolen all of our hearts. It’s clear from his sweet, loving, playful temperament that he was deeply cared for during his nine months at the shelter. We are so thankful to the entire staff and all t

My friend and I recently read a petition about the conditions here and our heart broke. We live close by and decided to speak to someone about volunteering and bringing supplies to help. The receptionist had a bad attitude. When we told her we wanted to bring supplies and what did they need, she just pointed to the sign on the wall. They need to start with getting new staff members that care about the community wanting to help. I’ve seen so many comments about how the staff is terrible, bad attitudes, doesn’t care about the animals and now I believe it myself. I’m so disappointed with this shelter and Yonkers for allowing this to happen. Do better and make this right!! You have good people that want to help right in your area, why would you have an attitude about that? These poor animals

My husband and I would like to thank the shelter and all the workers, volunteers etc. who made the adoption of our special family member possible. We are proof of having a perfect happy ending. I had come across a post of the dog named "Meesha" in January of 2022, shortly after losing our beloved Bella. We were distraught. I called my husband and told him how I saw this post from the shelter and wanted to go just to check it out. From the moment we stepped in we were given a tour and was shown around. We got to meet Meesha and ask questions and meet many of the other dogs. The staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable about their animals. I had asked questions about the dogs temperments, characteristics etc and both the staff and volunteers were very helpful and familiar. It was quite o
