Petco

I’m writing this review specifically about Petco’s treatment and sale of betta fish. As someone who has kept bettas for years and understands their care requirements, I have serious concerns about the conditions I consistently see in-store. Bettas are intelligent, interactive fish that require warm, clean, filtered water and adequate space. Unfortunately, the bettas at Petco are typically kept in tiny plastic cups with only a few inches of water, conditions that fall far short of what this species needs to stay healthy. Many fish show signs of stress or illness. What makes this especially troubling is that Petco’s own care guidelines acknowledge that bettas need heated water, stable temperatures, and proper tank setups. Yet the way they are housed in-store contradicts that information. B

I was looking for a side minder leash and halter. They don’t have it. I asked for help finding a halter for my miniature poodle and the associate was very reluctant to help me and said it was against petco policy to touch my dog , to which I asked can you touch the halter and help me adjust it or figure it out

They treat their betta fish horribly. I’ve gone in twice in the last week to rescue a betta and every time the bowls have multiple dead fish. I told the ladies at check out and they looked at each other and one went “you’re up…” and the other was annoyed and went to apparently put them in a freezer?? I’m not saying not to rescue a betta because they really need to be saved - but please buy your fish equipment from Midway or another small business until they change their practices!!

This was the worst, I normally never give bad reviews but this experience was terrible, we took our goldendoodle as we have for a year and a half to Petco and we explicitly asked the groomer to not cut too much, we wanted the hair to grow a bit longer and we just wanted a nice light groom and cut out a bit off the top, with a teddy bear cut. Instead we got the shortest cut we’ve ever gotten with a horrible cut and looks so bad. I think the groomer was either fed up, or simply did not care about his job, when we dropped him off he mentioned that he had to leave early that day or something, we figured that he would just be warning us so we pick the pup on time, but apparently he was just tired and just wanted to get the cut done and bail out. When we picked up the dog he wasn’t even there

I’m still in tears after losing a brand new member of our family. Went in to buy dog food on Sunday and do my usual looking at cute pets, what I found was a mouse cage covered in blood, on the back grate, all over the side, all on the front glass and one curled up, scared little mouse that was clearly being torn apart. Upon making management aware I got the strong feeling they didn’t care much and wouldn’t help him so I took him (they sold him at a discount due to his injuries) and drove him immediately to our nearest exotic pet vet, he started a course of antibiotics but sadly passed yesterday afternoon, I know it’s just a mouse but I’m still emotionally not alright. I’m glad he was so happy his last couple days, glad I was able to show him love and compassion. However, I will say I am a
