Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary

I was raised in a house full of animals, but like many of us was lost when it came to dealing with the inevitably of their failing health and eventual death. Touring Kindred Spirits, meeting the animals, learning their stories and seeing how these animals are given the opportunity to truly enjoy life, be loved and be part of a community even at the end of their life left me awestruck. Many of the animals had dreadful backstories and living out the rest of their lives at this sanctuary seems to be the beginning of their lives. Should we all be so lucky to be cared for when we are helpless, abandoned and deemed a burden for those around us.

What a gift to have this organization in the area. We are so blessed to have this team of caregivers and donors who keep it running.

This is truly a “Sanctuary” for senior animals, severely abused and traumatized animals, and ill animals...animals that otherwise would have been euthanized or abandoned. The staff and volunteers are extremely well-trained and organized. And it is run completely with the intent to create a peaceful place for these animals to heal and thrive during their last stage of life. Some were taken in when they could not walk and were expected to only live a few days, and were carried around by the staff, and soon began walking. The center is kept extremely clean and the animals, as well. And all of the animals have room to roam on the large property in numerous fenced-off areas. This rescue is absolutely fantastic! They take in older and neglected dogs, horses and birds,, that likely would have not stood a chance in the shelters or elsewhere. Many people think because it is hospice and end of life focused that it would be depressing to visit...exactly the opposite! It is so warm, loving, and upbeat! The animals are treated better than they have ever been treated in their lives, and they show it! It is more like a retirement resort :)

Wonderful place for old animals. The person complaining about their 17 yr old dog: sounds like she had a point not taking your dog. You obviously were trying to drop off a grieving dog to a stranger at a vulnerable time at the very end of its life for your convenience and then you make it out to be the shelter’s problem. They have many animals to save and choices to make and your inconvenience does not factor into it... anyway, the world needs more animal sanctuaries, more aware and compassionate humans, and more respect for the environment and our animals. This place is more of what we need.
