Henry County Animal Control We are writing this review regarding how our case was handled following a fatal dog attack in our neighborhood. On February 24, 2026, around 9:00 PM, our 5-lb Yorkshire Terrier was attacked and killed by a neighbor’s pit bull that was off leash and had left its property. Although the incident occurred on February 24, we did not contact Henry County Animal Control until February 26, 2026, as we were dealing with the emotional devastation and distress caused by the traumatic loss of our pet. Officer Long responded to our property around 10:00 AM. While he did go to the neighbor’s residence and left his card, he refused to provide us with an incident report number and stated that he was not going to write a report. Given the severity of the incident, we were v

I requested vaccine documents for a dog I adopted here not even 2 years ago. I was informed by Hannah that they didn’t have a way to store documents “back then”. Nor if they were given rabies shots to the animals or not and it depends on what was given to me on the papers I took home. At the time of adoption, I filled numerous docs electronically and paper. They kept a couple of forms that I signed and I kept the others. I’m not home and do not have the papers at the moment. Like 99% of shelters, I was hoping they had it on record electronically. Basically there’s no proof that I even adopted her. I paid $125 for the adoption fee that included certain vaccines. Not sure if it was truly given or not. They are not organized enough to work for the state. It should be illegal to hand over an a

I adopted a beautiful, sweet, coonhound mix named Delilah recently. I had to wait a month to adopt her because I was traveling, but the shelter and Savannah from the foster family worked with me so nicely to make a wonderful outcome for Delilah and me. I communicated often with Savannah (who obviously loved Delilah), getting all kinds of useful details about Delilah ahead of time. I was able to visit Delilah at the foster home 2 separate days in great surroundings. The adoption went very smoothly and I couldn’t be more delighted with Delilah!!!

If you care about animals, don't take them here! We had 2 pits roaming our neighborhood for weeks. They were sisters and they'd occasionally be in my back yard. They were very timid at first, afraid of everyone and would not come close. I've had dogs when I was younger, they looked hungry and thirsty so I started to feed them. They were 2 of the best dogs I've ever had. Friendly to everyone, playful, they never did a #2 in my yard, and they got along with all the other dogs nearby. Since this was during June, I felt obligated to take care of them and give them a cool place to stay. They stayed at my house with my family for 3 weeks in our backyard. They only issue I had was that the dogs needed medical attention and I didn't have the time, so I called the shelter. At first they s

The lady at the window was very shady. We went looking for a particular cat and they were obviously holding them for certain customers. They lied several times to the point, I would never go there again. Beautiful cats, ugly acting lady at the window
