Had to visit CASE around 3 am this morning with my senior cat who was experiencing an acute episode of either neurologic or vascular orgin, and was in distress. Dr. Riccio, and all support staff, were incredibly kind, compassionate, and efficient, from the intial triage and beyond. Dr. Riccio examined our girl and decided it would be best to stage our efforts in finding a diagnosis based on what would give us the most valuable information, and what our cat could reasonably handle in her current condition. They were able to safely take xrays, which gave us a diagnosis and a clear path forward. Even though my cat didn't get to come home with me, I am confident we made the correct decision based on the information Dr. Riccio uncovered, and I am so grateful she didn't have to suffer until mor
I rarely post reviews but I thought this was worth sharing for anyone who may take a pet here to be euthanized. I'll do my best to be succinct in some bullet points. Keep in mind that during this entire time at CASE I was distraught about losing my cat and I may not have been able to think the most clearly. - When I walked in, obviously distraught with my cat, I spoke with the receptionist and told her that I was bringing my senior cat in for euthanasia. I have lost many pets throughout my life and I would never make this decision unless it was necessary for my babies. The receptionist was cold and said "that will be at the discretion of the doctor" rather than offering any sort of condolences. I understand that some people may try to abuse euthanasia, but I think it was obvious that I wa
Brought my cat in on Friday night because his behavior changed very quickly with some type of eye infection - if you know anything about cats, things like this can go downhill very fast - I wasn’t going to wait three days to see my vet for his sake. Turns out, our visit was useless as no antibiotic was given, just a supplement and an eye gel that is very difficult to give to a stressed and sick cat. I trusted the vet’s decision to skip on an antibiotic but by Monday he was much worse. Thankfully our regular vet has handled everything and Percy is slowly getting better, but those three days he could have already been healing. I understand this is a difficult industry to work in, and emergency clinics are often the most stressful for employees. I just wanted to make sure my cat was going to
Called today to get info on how to help a stray in my neighborhood we have. The lady who answered was rude, giving me a speech on how I should just bring him and let mchenry county animal control take him. She said they will assess him and let animal control decide what to do with him. How is that compassionate for someone who is trying to help an animal. To just let them decide to put him down or not. Like I told this lady, I want to keep him just was looking for affordable options to help this stray cat. I did not need a lecture and her condescending remarks. He is purring, eating and sleeping well. Thankfully I have a great vet near the house and he has an appt at 945am. Reading the reviews I can see that some others have some experience with the lack of care of owners and pets. Stay wi
I rarely write reviews, but I think this one is necessary for the community to be aware of when seeking care for their pets. My dog, who is a French Bulldog was having difficulty breathing when we woke up. He still had his usual activity level, he ate breakfast, drank water and was playing with our children, but remained short of breath. We made the decision to bring him to Urgent Care (Companion Animal Hospital) to get him checked out. When he arrived, they took him back quickly and placed him in an oxygen cage. My last interaction with my dog, was encouraging him out the door, so they could evaluate further. From my conversation with the technician and the Vet herself, it doesn't sound critical. They didn't discuss any concerns for his outcome, they verbalized they saw "early pneumonia"
