This place is a horrible nightmare to deal with. We tried twice to adopt a dog. First we were told he was in a foster to adopt. My husband went ahead and filled out the papers and was told he would get a call of it did not work out. Fast forward a few days I see him again on Facebook we received no calls. I go in the next morning as soon as they open 9:20 and adopters are in and he’s gone again. I believe it’s all who you know. It’s not about the dogs.

Drove up to look at a Beagle with my mix breed dog, Pepper. The beagle, Bentley, and Pepper got along, and I filled out the paperwork to adopt. The dog was scheduled with the vet there in Sparta for neutering the following Monday. I picked Bentley up at the vet that Monday afternoon. Very pleased with Bentley and his adjustment to his new home.

Let's be serious for a minute. This shelter may not be the Taj Mahal of animal shelters, and I don't get why some people expect such. Why exactly are you going there with those kind of expectations? The focus should be the animals in need. And here at this shelter it is obvious that that IS their focus. We are lucky, or I should say the dogs there are lucky, that we even have one in our area. It's a tough job and especially in an area where support is minimal. This shelter tries VERY hard to place all animals to avoid the need for euthanasia. The amount of dogs that are dumped and discarded is horrendous and is a sad statement about most people and their opinion of the sanctity of life of all kinds. 15 years ago, my wife and I took in the last Lab pup from a guy in the Walmart parki
