Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke

This place is phenomenal. Three years ago I brought in a baby rabbit that was being chewed on by fire ants. And now, two days in a row I brought in baby birds. Yesterday, three. Today one additional sibling that had escaped my view. Melissa was so attentive as were those in the back office. Traffic was backed up on 81 due to a concert but they stayed late just for the three babies to arrive. I was told that the birds are Carolina Wrens and that they should do well. I admit, I got a bit attached to the last one with it having spent the night, but they're all where they need to be to get the best shot at life. I love this place.

Someone had the audacity to put a baby box turtle in a small cardboard box and leave it at our garage… not sure how long it was sitting there, maybe 24-48 hours , before we noticed it. We called a little after 4 and they had no problems with us coming right up to hand it off to them for care.. we were given some information on how to check up on the little guy. Hopefully when they give him a clean bill of health we can take him back and re-release him in our wooded back yard - can’t imagine he came from anywhere else. Staff was very nice and we support them 100%

I am so grateful for this organization. I had an abandoned baby squirrel and I was able to bring it on in to them, when other organizations didnt answer their phone or were closed. Definitely recommending them in the future to anyone that has a wildlife situation. Thank you all so much! 💖

I am grateful that we have the rescue in our area. I have taken them several animals that crossed our path over the years. It feels good to know that the animals have a place to go when needed.

Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Felt very at ease leaving the little guy with them. They are a non profit so any donations would be appreciated also.
