Smith County Animal Control

I had a stray come up to my house/neighborhood and by far not the first. I had called several times to get help or information for help for this dog. Nobody returned call. Subsequently, The dog was severly injured roaming and I called again to get help. I was told if I had fed, offered water or really any interaction with this dog that it is now my responsibility and if I dont care for it I can be charged with neglect. Should nobody try to assist the animal to protect it or others from injury. Ignore the dog? I am very disappointed with the concern for strays and the assistance given. Makes me sick to my stomach. Smith County needs to do better. Get the employees better help and better help for these strays. Put the money into helping them instead of other BS. Also, people who are

Animal control does nothing! I'm a property manager I try to get them out there for stray dogs attacking people they tell me they can come by in 2 weeks "short staff" Then I find a litter of six puppies try to call them to get them to pick them up or bring them to them so they don't die they don't call you back they say they can't take them even though the website itself says that that's what they're there for...... You never see them anywhere around town like what are we wasting our tax paying dollars of the county for this! Just shut it down and use the money to fix the roads or something useful these people are not doing their jobs at all!

Kristin came out and got a stray off of our property. She was really good with the dog and even called the next day to tell us how the dog was behaving in their facility. Really professional, courteous and nice to call us back the next day. Recommendation for those calling SCAC: 1. they are really busy because people like to abandon pets in Smith County, so it will save you headaches to try to have some understanding of how busy they are. 2. work with them to try to make life easier for them. for this particular dog, we captured it ourselves before we had them come out. that makes it easier for them when they come out so they aren't chasing an animal all over your property.

Don’t call these fools, I called them like four times already and they never sent an offer out! Always tell me “we’re gonna send somebody out” Nobody ever comes out so if you have straight dog problems, don’t even waste your time calling these people. I always see they’re lazy officers on the side of the road on the phone or laptops!

No animal control at all. I have made repeated calls. Never an answer always voicemail. Never a return call. There's a pack of dogs roaming our street for months, attacking people's pets and children, blocking traffic, and "animal control" won't answer thier phone or return a call let alone do their job. I wonder if the commissioners will refund my taxes since their not being used.
