We brought in a cat that we had seen in our back yard over the winter. We usually had chased him off but today he looked lethargic and let me walk up to him, so we looked him over. He was not neutered, had many wounds and scabs all in his fur and face, and none of our close neighbors have cats so we took him here to see if they could help. We were told they would be right out to the car, were forgotten about, and then when two ladies came out after we went back up to the window. They came out to the car, not even close enough to see the cat let alone examine him and said he wasn’t injured so the couldn’t take him. We told them he had multiple injuries that we could feel/see and might have more and didn’t run away with us as usual, which was weird. They accused us of taking care of him and
The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable. We adopted a nine week old black kitty named Salem. We renamed our kitty Spider. He is doing great and loves our other kitten. Thank you so much. We are so happy.
We came in to look at the dogs. Apparently you have to make an appointment which is ridiculous. There was also no available appointments until the next day. I don't know why this has to be so complicated. Why can't someone just walk through the kennels and then ask for help. It make no sense.
It’s very, VERY disturbing to know who now works here. Stopped in, saw that person, immediately left, did research and figured out she now works there. I feel sorry for the cats and dogs that are going to have to put up with the potential abuse from the new team member.
I’ve never left a review, but I feel obligated to for the well being of the animals at this shelter. People have said it before, and it’s true, if I could give them 0 stars, I would. A family member recently adopted a cat from Roanoke Valley SPCA, which was advertised as the most perfect cat, stating we can’t “oversell” him enough. Socially, he was fantastic with the best personality someone could ask for. Health-wise he is devastatingly ill, per an independent vet. The cat has GI issues, separation anxiety, eye issues, and visible ear issues. He received a 3.5/9 wellness score, per professional vet records. This was not disclosed, they were told he had a sensitive stomach and needs special food, that’s all. When this was brought up we were told “it takes up to 6 weeks for a special diet
