Customer Reviews
I've had over 4 decades of experience with fresh water and saltwater tanks and I have had great success and long living fish. Like many other customers I have gone in there with similar experiences of having the employees grilling me asking questions about what works and what doesn't, things that I understand and have had great success at. I even explained all the of successful years of experience I've had raising fish. She, the blonde lady even had the gall to tell me that I wasn't that intelligent and that she wasn't willing to sell me anything with that attitude. Whatever they don't even deserve one star in this sales area!
Woman working the fish wall today was very unprofessional towards my boyfriend. We simply went in to get a school of neon tetras for his betta tank. We have neons in other tanks with bettas and have had no issues. She adamantly refused and told us that bettas should not be kept with any other fish. My boyfriend was disappointed. I attempted to buy then neons instead stating I would put them in my large 75 gallon tank instead so we could get a school of each and he would be able to watch them. My boyfriend has adhd and watching fish helps when he gets too worked up. She told us she would not sell them to us because we would still put them in with the betta and accused us of deceiving her. She told us to go to Petco and they'd give them to us. I said fine and my boyfriend went to the car vis
I went to the Ames location with my mom while she was in town visiting me. She wanted to treat herself for her birthday by adding a new goldfish in her office. My mom has had great success with goldfish as long as I can remember and tells great stories of the fish she had when she was growing up. A young blonde lady came over to help us and immediately started pounding us with 100+ questions. Her demeanor and customer service was very unprofessional. She even threw out her college degree at us, as if we have no understanding of how to properly care for fish even with the years of great experience my mom has had. I was a loyal customer here, but will be shopping elsewhere from now on.
Just go give Petco love instead. I’m not sure what it is about this place and why they are so rude. I frequently visit this location for (mainly) fish tank supplies. It is a hobby I enjoy and have a lot of experience with. My whole life pretty much, and I’m 41. EVERY SINGLE time I go in there to buy fish, I am met with 100 questions about my tank set up, and am frequently denied being sold fish, for one reason or another. The other night I went in to buy more neon tetras for my tank, and was denied being sold them because of the WEATHER. Mind you, I was in a couple hours earlier and had gotten 2 neon tetras and the weather had been way worse at that time. And they were sold to me then. If I felt like it was because they were just making sure it was because they cared about the fish, it wou
Came here at 9:20 am, I stood in the fish section for quite some time, I then went to the front counter and asked for someone to come and assist with getting a fish. The worker at the front said he would call someone to help. I stood there a bit longer. I finally said screw it and got the red albino Oscar out and into a bag, I put the last 4 digits of the serial number on the bag. As a former fish store employee, I knew those things so that’s what I did, tied the bag and proceeded to the front when I was disrupted by the manager. Won’t give me her name. She had said next time don’t do that, I said okay, what are you going to do? Fire me?, oh okay then so I proceeded to the front, told the cashier that I was ready to check out? He asked if I had an account with them, I had stated no. He the
