Petco

We really like this Petco location. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. We went there to find a cute looking post surgical cone, but all they had were the basic ones. They have an abundance of different treats as well as really cute pet clothes. We're going to try the vet service for vaccination soon and will let everybody know how that is.

Whenever I go to Petco, they’re always very kind of considerate. Megan takes care of my dog, and my dog loves to go out there because she loves Megan and she usually gets a bath and then she gets her nails cut and trimmed and the veterinarians up there are very nice and kind and polite and very helpful. Everybody is at that store. I recommend going to the Ames Petco store.

Terrible service. Boyfriend and I went in to adopt a leopard gecko. We have a female already and did not want to get a male for the new tank that was sits next to her. We didnt want them trying to get to each other and hurt themselves. We kindly asked if the manager could hold the gecko we were looking at adopting so my boyfriend could see its sex. We've done a ton of research into identifying gecko sex to avoid any breeding issues if they escaped their respective cages. When we purchased our last one from this very same petco they let us sex them. The manager told us no because they've had breeding problems in the past and their pets are not meant to be bred. I told her that was the exact reason we wanted to avoid getting a male and to sex the one we were looking at so no accidental breed

Megan at Petco groomer always makes my geriatric princess feel loved. She takes care of her grooming needs(she’s quite hairy) and she comes home looking and smelling sooooo good. So soft and shiny! I use Petco grooming every 8 weeks and would not go elsewhere.

Stood in the aquarium area for 12 minutes with no help, asked an employee and they said they didn't know who was working that area. So no help there. Also the tanks were filthy and fish were mostly dead or had bloat. All the employees seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. Never did get help after waiting another 5 minutes and walked out to not so much as a good day or anything from the front cashier. Very sad.
