New River Veterinary Specialists

We brought our kitty Simon to New River on 2/2/26 after he was attacked on our back porch by a neighbor’s dog. Panicked, we called ahead to make sure he would be seen and when we walked in the door 40ish minutes later, they were waiting for him. After a short wait, the doctor came out and explained what injuries he appeared to have and gave us a rundown of the tests they could do to confirm internal injuries, but also noted he was not recovering from shock as expected and euthanasia might be a more humane option. We were given time to talk as a family and weigh the options, then the doctor came back to report Simon had minimal improvement in his shock recovery but also had a new concerning symptom. My husband and I brought in our dog, Chloe, around midnight to treat a potential UTI. When we called the front desk, they were patient with us as we explained our situation. We drove a little over an hour to get there and it was worth it. When we got there, we didn't have to wait long at all until the vet saw Chloe and was able to get her x-rays done very quickly. The vet tech who helped us was Liz and the veterinarian was Dr. Costello. They were both very detailed in explaining the condition, potential causes, ways to prevent any future infections, and what we needed to follow up with our regular vet for. They also explained the cost of everything up front. We appreciate their kindness and hard work. If your animal ever needs emergency care, they would be in good hands here.

I called at around 530am this morning to inquire about bringing our Hera in. The girl who answered was patient as I tried to hold myself together over the phone. We got there around 800am... front desk guy knew what we were there for and they were prepared. They took our girl back and kindly did an exam and explained exactly what the issue was with her. Also explained the likelihood of her not having a good quality of life if treated. I forget the vets name...or the staffs name as it was a blur of tears and emotion... But you have no idea how much it means that everyone was compassionate. Ya'll are kind... caring. Thank you for this because it's been the hardest day of my life losing my girl.

I brought my cat that was in a lot of pain, I only wanted them to at least get him out of pain and to help me with his very simple procedure they said was needed but I am finding out that money is way more important than my precious cat's health. I am sure I will find a kind hearted vetinarian tomorrow when they are open. It's Sunday and I thought this place was a kinder place than what I experienced so I traumatized my cat for nothing and now I'm having to have his feces and painful cries all night and who knows how long. My husband is a veteran and we'll have money soon but I will never bring any of my animals here. What a painful experience for me and my cat. Make sure you have a lot of money available if you plan on taking your pet here. 😿😿😿 Today I pray I find help for my Gizmo... He'

We were transferred to this ER on recommendation by our vet. We brought our 2yr old dog here for an emergency due to fluid buildup within her chest cavity due to an accident. We had a long drive and when we arrived, they were quick to recieve her and start her evaluation. They were prompt and upfront about costs. The Vet, Dr. Au patiently explained our dogs very uncertain/ complex condition to us and our options. They kept us updated on her treatment and progress; when it became necessary to transfer her to the University of Florida for surgery they continued to check in on her and us. After bringing our dog home after surgery, she still required therapeutic drainings and NRVS was able to easily accommodate for this further treatment!
