Mohave County - Animal Shelter

The staff are wonderful and very helpful when it comes to the dogs and cats. All the kennels are neat and tidy and the animals are very well taken care of. I've had my eye on a certain dog for a while and he's been adopted out a few times but has been brought back, so when I saw him this last time I went in I knew I had to take him home!! In just one day he has completely turned around and changed for the better. he's not shy he's playful he has the biggest personality and such a love bug. He doesn't bother the horses ,he doesn't mess around with the goats, could care less about the cats or chickens and he follows me and my other Doberman around like he's been part of our pack from the start. 🥰 If you're looking for a dog companion definitely talk to Amy. I have been volunteering as a puppy foster with Mohave County Animal Shelter for over a year, and I truly cannot say enough about the incredible staff and volunteers. The team is compassionate, hardworking, and fully dedicated to finding loving homes for every dog in their care. The partnership with Friends of the Mohave County Animal Shelter makes this program even stronger by supporting adoption events, outreach, and vital resources for the animals. So much work goes on behind the scenes — medical care, spay/neuter, daily care — all while adoption fees remain very reasonable. Fundraising plays a huge role in keeping everything running. I am grateful to foster alongside such an amazing group of people. This shelter truly goes above and beyond for the animals and our community.

Back in 2023, I was 8 months pregnant and relocating to another state. My husband and teen son drove through Arizona with our pets, while I took a train with my toddler. My husband and son got into a car accident. My son was taken to a hospital and my husband arrested, due to an old warrant we didn’t know about. Our dog and cat were taken to this shelter. My husband was in jail a total of 1 month. The shelter gave us 10 days to pick up our pets. Unfortunately, or German Shepard was very scared of them and they were unable to examine him. They told us after 10 days, our pets would become their property and put up for adoption. But because our dog couldn’t be examined and therefore put up for adoption, they put him down in spite of my pleas. The way the guy in charge spoke to me was complete

I had to get my two dogs their dog license there. The ladies were very friendly and helpful . I felt so bad for all the dogs out in the play area, I wanted to take them all home with me I have to rescues myself But I wish I could give them all a home. The place was nice and clean and the dogs were playing together but I just wish I could give them a good home like my two have but I know someone will go there and adopt them.

People are very nice but definitely need more help, the kennels are nasty, the animals are covered in their own feces. I just adopted a dog from them which I absolutely love him but he has already show signs of having kennel cough. Very unprofessional how animals receive vaccines right before they are adopted instead of when they are brought in to avoid spreading diseases.
