Mid Island Animal Hospital

Mid Island Animal Hospital is a Veterinary practice and hospital that goes above and beyond. I wanted to share this experience so others, who love their animals, would know about how wonderful the care is at Mid Island Animal Hospital. I have been taking my golden retriever puppy there since she was 12 weeks old. Recently, my 17 month old dog stopped eating and was just sleeping all day which was not like her at all. I thought maybe she had a stomach parasite or some other simple issue. We were taken that same day and seen by Dr. Stephanie Acevedo. Dr. Acevedo was extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and compassionate. She understood we were in shock and upset with the test results and she took the time to explain everything several times. She never rushed us out

This veterinary office/hospital is excellent! I have been coming here since 1994 with my cat and now with my dog. All the doctors are wonderful and the nurses and staff are just as wonderful! Everyone at Mid-Island is professional, caring, so gentle and friendly to my pets! This place is very clean!! I drive from far just to come here cause there is no other place like Mid-Island Animal Hospital! <3

Dr. Wu made sure to get Chester scheduled for a dental procedure immediately when he was having issues with his mouth. She scheduled it the next day with Dr.Acevedo. Dr.Acevedo took great care of my baby and monitored him before, during and after his procedure. She was mindful of medications and blood results to adjust accordingly so his safety was always a priority. She worked together with Dr. Wu to keep her updated on Chester. Dr. Wu called me the next day to see how Chester was doing, to go over everything they found during his procedure and see if I had any questions. This was the first visit that was not a wellness visit and I was so impressed with the knowledge and teamwork. They really put the pets safety first

*Avoid for pet travel certification* I had a very disheartening experience with this clinic and hope others will learn from my error. I found there to be a lack of transparency around pricing to get travel paperwork done, given that the clinic adds a significant upcharge of $500 on top of the $200 charged by the USDA (if you need rabies certification). I understand there is time involved with completing this paperwork, but a +233% margin is not something I would have willingly paid for had I known prior to my visit. Beyond what I find to be inflated prices compared to other clinics, no one at Mid Island communicated a fairly significant price increase due to regulatory changes that went into effect the day before my visit and I was only made aware when I got blindsided while checking out

I’m so grateful for Mid Island Animal Hospital. Although our beautiful Griselda was not a regular patient, they were the only Vet in the area to see my baby girl right away. After countless calls to our regular vet (didn’t have appts available until September) and taking her to the emergency animal hospital which is expensive, I was able to bring my dog the following day. Unfortunately she had lymphoma cancer and she was getting worse. We did what was best for her and I will always be grateful for Dr. Wu and Dr. Mazzola. Their love and compassion towards Griselda will always stay with us. It’s been really hard for our family with the lost of Griselda none the less a blessing to have found you guys. Thank you!
