Can’t say enough positive things about the Mid Atlantic Feline Thyroid Center. I picked up my cat, June Carter, today from the hospital, and I knew I had to write a review of the care that the team at the feline thyroid center provided. From the time June was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, the support from Stephanie to get the appointment scheduled and communicate with her normal veterinarian was top-notch. Also, she took the time to answer any of my preliminary questions about the I-131 treatment, and was in constant communication with my to prepare both June and myself for the treatment. Thank you so much Stephanie! I dropped June off February 9th and met Dawn, who takes care of the patients throughout the week. Dawn was very professional in answering all of my questions during th
My 13 year old cat, Max, went in for the radioactive iodine treatment after being diagnosed with thyroid disease a few months ago. I came from Ellicott City to bring him to this Center as the reviews and communication from the staff here were excellent. They were able to review all his records and coordinate with his vet to get the info they needed so we did not need to bring Max in for an initial consult, which was appreciated as it's a bit of a drive, and he would not have enjoyed the trip. Instead, any additional tests and bloodwork that were necessary prior to treatment, we took him to his primary vet for. Stephanie, Dawn, and Dr. R were all incredible. We were able to get 2 daily check ins, which were very detailed, and we looked forward to getting every day. She was incredible and s
I called around and spoke with many clinics that offer the I-131 treatment and settled on Mid Atlantic for a few reasons, glowing reviews from other kitty-obsessed parents, the friendly and patient interactions over the phone answering questions, the ability to check in on my beloved kitty via a kitty kam, being flexible in allowing to use recent lab work/diagnostics instead of paying more out of pocket for their lab work/diagnostics, and the pricing. Gracie Gray seemed to have done very well during her stay- didn't seem stressed as she ate her food, regularly used the litter box, asked for loving when Dawn was doing her rounds, and didn't hide the entire time in her cubby. <SIGH> I had chosen well a place that not only would treat her for her hyperthyroidism but also a place that woul
compassionate and sincere...if I had to pick only two words for those with whom we (still) interact with at MAFTC, these two would be at the top. from our initial contact with Stephanie, through the treatment process and now in follow-up phase, we never felt like we, or Thad, were alone or any concerns/questions were a bother. communications are always kind, understanding and upbeat. during his days at the clinic, we loved being able to check in on him via camera (and we could hear Dawn chatting to him and the other cats as she cared for them <3). bc he was so shy and life until now had certainly beat him up, I don't believe Thad enjoyed the video/views available to him, but I love that they were available. the treatment price was a hard to swallow (with 10 other rescues and some of t
This is one of those places that I couldn’t wait to write the review on. My sweet Evelyn was diagnosed as hyperthyroid after I brought her in to our usual vet for bloodwork due to unexplained weight loss. She is the sweetest 13yo girl - wouldn’t hurt a fly but she gets very scared, which breaks my heart because I can’t reassure her. Our regular vet gave us a list of places (which MAFTC was on), but I was immediately drawn here. Call me a crazy cat lady (toxoplasmosis is no joke y’all), but I could just tell that MAFTC was special which was important because I wanted Evelyn to be taken care of. They ended up being the cheapest place of all the ones we reached out to, but I have to admit that cost was not such an important factor for me in terms of which place we chose. I wanted to feel goo
