2018/Update: Chesapeake Dogs & Cats, Inc. (CDC) staff are very particular about to whom their rescues go, concerned for the happiness and well-being of both parties. An application is required and details of the planned living situation mandatory. There is also a trial period available for the adopting parent(s) to assess compatibility and welfare of the cat in their home. The shelter let us spend many hours getting to know the cats there. We adopted two in early-mid 2016, Skittles/Skitty (7) and then Calvin (3). Our third, Mooch, was a stray polydactyl kitten discovered in our local area. We lost our beloved Skitty 17DEC17 to a bacterial infection she somehow inhaled, surmised the ER doctor. She was mama cat to Mooch and best buds with Calvin, so both are severely depressed right now. 5 stars would recommend. I was very impressed with Chesapeake Cats & Dogs. It's a tough time with my mother passing late last year and my stepfather earlier this week. We needed a place for the cats ASAP. Chesapeake Cats & Dogs was there when we needed them. After dropping off the 3 cats last night, I was really impressed with their space and their intake practices. Cats had plenty of room, there were a lot of cats, but not too many for the space. They took the time to get all of the pertinent information to be sure that it would be safe for them to take in my mom's 3 cats. They were very appreciative of my mother's detailed record keeping on her cats' veterinary visits.

We went to an open house looking for a kitten. Unlike many other shelters the animals here are able to interact with both visitors and each other! Who would want to adopt a pet they couldn't get to know a head of time?

It was fantastic it was very very nice and clean and the lady who helped me Ashley was wonderful and beautiful showing me around and showing me the beautiful wonderful cats that they have. I felt very welcomed and answered all my questions for me very pleasant. I would highly recommend adopting a beautiful cat from them.
