Merrimac Dog Training Club

We took the basic obedience for dogs 6+ mo. I have trained previous dogs and didn't find the class as beneficial as I hoped. It's in a warehouse, so it was very difficult to hear the instruction. The dogs didn't get any play time before hand to get it out of their system. The class structure and lessons were too relaxed for me. I never found out "what my dog's special talent is", or resolved my biggest gripes with his behavior. I did learn some new tips and tricks, though. For $90, it's a good value, but I would rather use that money at a different school.

While my puppy was too young to join any classes, Deanna Bullock spent time on the phone with me coaching me on how to deal with my strong willed alpha puppy. This 5 lbs puppy was not afraid to take on my 73 lbs shepherd was also an alpha dog! She was a tremendous help and we are anxiously awaiting attending classes.

Merrimac Dog Training is unique because it is an all volunteer AKC dog club that offers basic training for puppies and older dogs; as well as offers competitive training in obedience, rally, agility, conformation and barn hunt. The members are helpful, and the classes fun. They have a 15,000 sq ft building to hold classes. Reasonable rates, good classes.

I have been a club member for around 8 years, and have learned a lot about dog training! I began with a basic obedience class, and eventually went on to compete with my 3 poodles in a variety of venues. MDTC offers a variety of classes and also hosts trials, where you can earn titles, but most importantly, it provides a caring atmosphere in which to connect with your dog and make new friends.

Great club indoor ac and heat facilities and people. Wide range of classes and alcohol trial events. I especially like the nosework, barnhunt and agility equipment and facilities. My golden retriever just loves coming here to train.
