We highly recommend Sam Henderson for dog training. She is an amazing trainer for step-by-step learning with our four month old puppy. She uses easy game-like tasks and positive reinforcement to engage our pup. She summarizes each session in an e-mail to help us recall our practice training between each session. So grateful I found Sam at Mellow Hound for my reactive dog. She treated Millie and I so kindly and made the whole training experience positive for both of us. I received Sam’s information from two highly respected dog rescue organizations. WAG and the Rise Rescue Alliance. Both organizations receive many dog surrenders due to behavior. Sam from Mellow Hounds was the top recommendations for both! Liam is my sweet, hyperactive, and reactionary dog. Evidently, he sees the garbage man as stealing our garbage and lunged and knocked me down, hitting face first on the pavement. He’s also very reactionary to other dogs and the situation was only getting worse. I called Sam and she was responsive and gave me hope. We worked with Sam with our focus primarily being on recall although we did address a few other things as well. She made me feel like she had the rest of her life to focus on our issues (in other words never felt rushed or in a hurry) her knowledge and understanding of how dogs communicate and think and ability to clearly help me to understand that is outstanding, and I’ve worked with my share of dog trainers over my life. My dog now has such an enthusiastic and joyful response to recall that it makes me laugh out loud. Sam also was very responsive to any questions or problems we had after our initial training session, I highly recommend her!

I highly recommend Sam Henderson. We have two Great Danes and she is wonderful at helping us learn how to train & manage a couple of behavioral issues they have developed i.e. barking issues. They have improved and so have we! She is patient, understands canines and provides excellent value for what she charges. We are very happy with her knowledge and service.
