I adopted a kitten from this shelter a week ago and had a great experience. The care of the cats is amazing, all enclosures were well kept with attentive volunteers/staff everywhere. The staff make it a priority for potential owners to spend time with their chosen pet to ensure it’s a good fit. Everyone I spoke to was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I’ve seen a lot of reviews complaining about the wait times for the front desk. I think it’s extremely unfair since two people at a front desk is standard for any establishment and they were doing their best. It is not their fault that the majority of people that they assist take 10+ minutes each because they’re dealing with adoptions, meet & greets, etc. When it was my turn, the staff made sure my adoption was a priority and were thoroug
Irving Animal Care Campus is a wonderful shelter with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They have a great selection of adoptable pets—not just dogs and cats, but also some adorable bunnies! The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience of visiting or adopting feel easy and positive. The facility itself is well-maintained and impressively clean, which speaks to how much they care for the animals. They have plenty of cats ready for adoption, and it’s clear they take great care of every pet that comes through their doors. They also offer a lot of volunteer opportunities and flexible fostering options, making it easy to get involved no matter your schedule. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to volunteer, foster, adopt a pet, donate, or just spend some
I adopted a dog from here almost 2 years ago, and we have been best friends since day one! The staff there was extremely helpful and transparent about Beau’s (new name) conditions, and I was able to foster him while they took care of his veterinary needs. They sent me home with detailed treatment sheets for me to follow while administering Beau’s at-home care. As a nurse myself, I appreciate the thoroughness of this process as it ensures the dogs will be adequately cared for, and gives me the peace of mind and reassurance I need as a pet parent. After I officially adopted him, I received a free bag of dog food, and dog-mom welcome kit, a small thank you token from the shelter, as well as a voucher to take Beau to his first official vet appointment for free. One of the things I most enjoyed
These are terrible and people. My sister passed and she had 9 dogs. I did everything I could to get them into good homes. By the time I had to have her place vacated I still had three dogs. This is after calling rescue after rescue and shelter after shelter. And after taking a dog myself and placing 5 others. I called the shelter and explained my situation. They said under the circumstances they would help. That they would only euthanize dogs with medical problems. I got the address and closing time. When I got there they treated me like a murderer. They told me I had to have an appointment and that they would likely be euthanized. Further they told me I needed to to this the right way. Then told me to speak to a supervisor. I was left waiting for over an hour. I don’t know what to do bu
A couple weeks ago my husband and I came to visit a local shelter. We didn’t intended to adopt, due to fact we both already owned two dogs. But, when we saw Thor and Layla we both immediately fell in love. We were told they were both found together on the streets, and have been in the shelter since August, knowing that they both shared a special bond we couldn’t separate them. So, we adopted them both and now they’re both happy with their new fur siblings. I would like to add the people that worked there were all friendly. We observed the handler who was taking care of the large dogs & who also showed us Thor & Layla, that she loves & cares for them. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our dogs. We are very blessed and our hearts our full now that they’re a part of our family.
