We needed a buddy for our own buddy, Chase. We were SO impressed with the staff and volunteers. It made me sad, as an adopter, to realize how much they do with so little. It was obvious to me that everyone I came in contact with were so genuine. But they need more resources to do something simple like replacing astroturf or increasing staff. We adopted Cookie, AKA Oreo, Perfect match? So far, I think we are getting along like family!

Just adopted two kitties from here days ago. Already feels like they are part of the family. One all white senior cat, and a small younger gray short hair kitty. The selection of cats was pretty decent considering we went only a couple days after Christmas to pick some out. The staff were friendly and the facility was clean and well cared for.

I am a homeless disabled veteran and mom of 3. Animal control is fully aware of my circumstances and yet has given me less than 2 business days to provide documentation of Rabies. Both my dogs have a 3 year shot but due to my current situation I can not find the paperwork and of course the tags fell off of their collars. They have shown zero aggression to anyone and yet here we are. 10 days before Christmas and my kids will not get a Christmas now because every last dollar I had left this month until next pay day is going to be spent on a vet bill that was unnecessary. (My vet closed in the small town I used to live by.) So from this veteran to you inhumane pieces of humanity. I adopted a dog from here! He is so cute! Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable about the dogs. If you're thinking of getting a dog, make sure you make an appointment. We didn't know that and ended up coming back later in the day after setting one. Also, if you have another dog in the home, they would like for them to meet each other. Anyway, I found the perfect one! I saw him on their online website before I went to meet him. They made sure I was comfortable with my decision and set us all up for the trip home together. They have a store also where you can buy a leash, crate, etc... Meet Charlie, my new best friend! (Formerly known as Captain)

Be careful when fostering from Independence animal shelter on 23rd st. We were asked to drop off our cat to be fixed on Friday. Told we would be able to pick her up Tuesday (today). We showed up at the scheduled time just to find out our cat had already been adopted. If anyone knows someone who adopted a very tiny black cat. Please have them reach out to me. My child is so sad. Please share to warn others! Also we would love to get her back if the people adopted her are willing. I'll pay them back for any expenses incurred!
