Humane Society of the Ohio Valley

I’m a multi time adopter of dogs and cats. And each and every time I’ve been there, I’ve been treated with kindness and respect. Couldn’t ask for a better set of employees. And the shelter manager Amy is constantly busy doing things and always smiling. I recently adopted Athena- the deaf pitty. Our jeep club recently done a freeze out blanket drive for the hsov and everyone was so thankful and polite as we invaded Hsov to drop them off. I tell a lot of folks how nice everyone is out there. And even when I go in and they are on the phone- they say will be with you as soon as possible if someone else don’t come out to help you. They don’t get enough credit for all they do. All very nice ladies, very helpful. Got my special little senior today so he can join our family. The ladies just adored him. They all work very hard there to keep all the fur babies as happy as possible. They are almost filled double what they are meant to hold and still manage to commit to caring for and living all the babies

We adopted our new family member from HSOV and we could not be happier. Beta has already become comfortable with us and seems to be a very happy girl. We met her a week before we were able to adopt (we currently live on the other side of the state) they held her for us and gave us a collar and a box of food to help us and her tummy with our switch to her new food. We love Beta and are happy we could be her forever family! 3 months in and Beta is the best addition to our family!!! Everyone she meets loves her and she is living her best life!

Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is an incredible shelter. When we visited we could see the HSOV is run by very professional staff and volunteers. Everyone was extremely friendly in showing us dogs. Out of all the shelters we have visited HSOV is tops in providing enrichment and outside time for their dogs. The dogs are let out every morning for a large block of time by a team of volunteers, then they are in for "Quiet Time" where they get frozen Kongs, freeze balls, and frisbees with peanut butter. The dogs we met were friendly and sweet. All human societies check potential adopters thoroughly, if there are negative comments here it is because someone was denied adoption because they are not a suitable pet parent. This is as it should be, too many dogs are adopted and left unattended. Th

The adoption process was simple. Caring about the animals is up to you. You know that the staff there really care about the work their doing. The facility is very clean, as well as the animals. Our Humane Society definitely has my support.
