The two stray dogs we had to have picked up because they were starving and freezing, ae well taken care of at this shelter! The boy and girl dog were neutered and spayed, groomed, and overall they were relaxed and happy! I can't wait to hear that some great family will adopt them! Don't forget they take any kind of donations from cash to dog or cat food, blankets anything else you can find. Thank you

We needed a dog to join a home with an existing dog and cat. Through High Country Humane and Petfinder my daughter and I found the same dog. She was being fostered by a wonderful man, who had lots of information. It took 2 weeks to get together due to work commitments and distance( about 70 miles). We brought our existing rescue and drove the distance up through the mountains in stormy weather. Fiona ( her name now) was taller than we expected, but hit it off with "Larry", The shelter offered us a one week foster to adopt, which we decided to do. Our " cat with an attitude" was ok with her. She settled in fast and is everything they said she was. She is ours for life and even got her first nose bump from the cat. Keep up the great work, High Country!

My favorite Humane entity. My Benji just returned from neutering. I've never seen such a caring staff...towards people and animals. I saw an adoption and a surrender. The surrendered dog was devastated,.but, these wonderful workers put the dog into a room with another dog...after about 15 minutes the 2 dogs were playing. Such caring... I cannot say enough about this Rescue group

There is a pervasive culture of awful attitudes and operational incompetence. I was told I would be able to adapt a dog then as I was about to take him was told it had to be a foster to adopt. I was then told specifically my next steps were to call in when I wanted to adopt and it was as easy as that, done with paperwork etc. I was then emailed asking for extra paperwork that I had already signed and asking if If I had gotten his medication which I had also done, very puzzling. I let them know what I have been told and that it had already gotten all these things and was told I had to sign the papers anyway. I decide to go in to sign the papers and see if I could get any excess joint supplements for the pup and when I get there I am told that I now owe money for the adoption and that I will

What an amazing experience! I went in knowing exactly who I wanted to meet and hopefully adopt. They were very kind and explained the process to me, I filled out some paperwork and within 30 minutes from start to finish I was out the door with my newest family member! They give you a bag of food to take home with your new pup, and I was able to buy a leash and harness there, so I was able to make sure I got the right size. It was a great experience from start to finish, and I’m so happy I was able to get the dog I had my heart set on. Thanks so much to the entire staff!
