Gambrills Veterinary Center

By far the best vet we’ve been to. We started coming here 5 years ago for our rabbits since they’re considered ‘exotic’ & our other vet for our cats wouldn’t see them. Dr. Orenstein was able to see us almost immediately. The entire staff was professional, compassionate, & truly dedicated to the well-being of my pet. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed & well-informed. The level of expertise & the kindness shown by the doctor & the techs made a significant difference during our visit.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Gambrills Veterinary Center. When I called on Sunday to schedule euthanasia for my cat, I was quoted $250. At my appointment on Tuesday, I was charged $466.13, nearly double the quoted price. If I knew this ahead of time I would not have gone to this clinic. In addition to this, I was left waiting in the waiting room for over an hour after my appointment, which was incredibly distressing given the nature of the appointment. When I called the next day to ask why the cost was so much higher and to try to find some sort of resolution, I was told it was because they had to use a gas chamber because my cat “would not allow them to put in an IV.” This is simply not true. Everyone was so nice and professional. From the phone call to schedule, arrival and checking out. The price for services was very reasonable. I’m fairly new to the area and my Pomeranian has been having ear infections. His regular vet is 45 mins away as we have not switched yet. He woke up in a lot of pain.… so I called GVS (as they are so much closer), they were able to see him within a couple of hours of calling. Everyone was great with my pup, who is not a fan of anyone or anything.

Do not go here for exotic care, specifically small animals. Dr. Orenstein roughly handled my tiny beloved mouse & she reacted with a bite. How did he react? By flinging her out of his hand and dropping her 3.5 feet to the ground. I had to handle her for the rest of the appointment, just for him to look in her ears and tell me they’re clear. I can understand an hour wait to be seen, I can understand a $130 balance(though that is ridiculously high for what “treatment” occurred), but what I’m not ok with is mishandling pets. I understand accidents happen, and this was an accident. But it could have been prevented. I am beyond happy with the care I received from Gambrills Veterinary Center! I had to bring my duck in for an emergency visit, and they were able to see her right away. The entire team was kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate. It’s incredibly hard to find a vet who treats ducks, let alone one who can see them the same day, but Dr. Orenstein and his staff exceeded every expectation. They truly know what they’re doing, and they made both me and my duck feel completely cared for. I couldn’t recommend them more highly!
