Camp Opie Dog Daycare & Training

We did a two-week board and train for our 6-month old puppy with Camp Opie and The Kindred K9 Academy. It worked out really well because we were going on a two-week vacation. Let me just tell you, Andy at The Kindred K9 Academy was absolutely amazing. We brought him our list of things we wanted our pup to learn or “break” him of while he was at training. Andy was so kind and good with our pup as they first met each other the day we dropped him off. Then, while we were out on vacation, Andy would send us daily video and text updates letting us know what he was working on with our pup and how things were going. A couple months ago, our now 5 months old aussie pup came into our lives. I had been taking our previous dogs to Camp Opie for many years. Co-owner/trainer Andy was highly recommended. I met him at an adoption event Camp Opie hosted. Jimmy just spent a week with Andy and although far from perfect (he’s an aussie pup!), I cannot believe how improved he is. Andy sent me daily videos and text messages explaining that day’s training. He took Jimmy to different environments, including hanging outside dog parks, noisy children, and in the public. He walks much better on a leash which was my main concern. He is overall better behaved. Andy has given me the tools to continue to train our boy. I highly recommend Andy if you’re looking for an excellent dog trainer!

Our dog did 8 pack of training with Andy at Opie & we have also continued using the doggy daycare. Teddy , although pretty mellow for a puppy, needed some help with manners. He would push at doorways and barge past us. Andy helped us fix that right away. We learned how to do leash training w Teddy for when he pulls. Teddy has his commands down well including “place” which has been helpful at home and in the car. recall was important to us and we’ve kept practicing it at home ever since Andy taught him... It’s going well! It makes me proud to see what a little gentleman Teddy has become. One thing I’d recommend is to ask questions along the way if things aren’t going as smooth at home. Camp Opie Dog Daycare is great for day and overnight boarding as well as being excellent for private training. Cooper got so much out of the time spent with Andy and we are so grateful for it. Being able to take a highly active dog into stressful public situations and having him behave seemed impossible but Andy showed us it’s not. Thank you for training both Cooper and us.

I can’t recommend Andy enough! My dog Teddy is blind, and Andy’s training made such a difference for both of us. Teddy is now so well-behaved, fully potty trained, and doing amazing with leash training. Andy was patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. He not only taught Teddy, but also gave me the confidence and tools I needed to keep up with the training at home. Choosing Andy was the best decision I could have made for Teddy!
