We had a consultation with Dr Speas who was wonderful ! She took a lot of time to explain, in detail, any and all of our options regarding immediate treatment and future treatment of our dog. She was very pleasant and explained complicated issues in uncomplicated ways. She is very compassionate and easy to speak with, not pushy at all. She didnt make us feel rushed into any decisions, but gave us good information to assist us in those decisions. We haven't had any procedures yet, but will in the very near future. We highly recommend Dr. Speas!
We were waitlisted for an appointment with Internal Medicine. Fortunately, there was a cancellation, and we were able to be seen promptly. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very helpful and personable receptionist who contacted Internal Medicine immediately. My very anxious nine-year-old Jindo-mix Maple was treated with great care and compassion by Jennie, who took all of the information pertinent to her case. Dr. Bannister, the internist, and Dr. Williams soon entered the consultation room and explained in comprehensive and intelligible terms Maple's condition and the diagnostic procedures that were required. I was also given a printed estimate of the range of costs that might be applicable. After consenting to the plan of diagnostic procedures, Maple was caringly escorted from the co
Our wire fox terrier, Happy, has been there two other times for surgeries. He was diagnosed with a rare cancer back 2024. The week after Christmas, Happy started throwing up more on New Year's Eve. We took Happy to Blue Pearl on Friday, New Year's Day. Because of his health history, it was important to get an x-ray and ultra sound done as soon as possible. Unfortunately, because of the holiday, there were no staff to do an ultra sound or x-ray until Monday. Happy could not wait that long. I find it odd to be call an emergency hospital with no staff to support emergencies. With that being said, the vet referred us to Partners Hospital in Frederick where they were able to do the x-ray and other tests that day and the ultra sound the next day. Sadly, the cancer spread to Happy's kidney
Bottom line we got service. My dog got attention. I was worried because she had eaten a lot of dark chocolate. She seems fine today, but when I got there, I have to say there didn’t seem to be a sense of emergency. It was kind of first come first serve when technically this Is a life-threatening situation because chocolate is toxic to dogs, especially dark chocolate. She needed immediate attention so that made me concerned. When we were treated I did feel confident in blue pearl services. I didn’t get to meet Dr. Pearl, but I’ve heard wonderful things about him. I do feel confidence knowing my dogs are in good hands. The Dr, who worked on my dog was very detailed oriented and explained everything well.I was a tad bit shocked at the pricing, but I guess there isn’t anything I wouldn’t pay a
Dr. Guarino and the ER staff and technicians at the time Lucy, our black Labrador, was seen the first time, last Sept 23 till the next say when Lucy cane back for her CT scan and planned rhinoscopy, were amazing. All were friendly and very helpful. The place was very clean and had enough seating capacity. Even after Lucy was back home, the persons who answered my calls (I called a few rumes) were very nice, made sure my message to Dr. Guarino made it to her ans the ER team when Dr. Guarino was not in at that time. Dr. Guarino explained what she saw in the scan then called back again when the official results came out, she was thorough about what symptoms to expect with Lucy's diagnosis of nasal adenocarcinoma. She was in no hurry to talk about options available for Lucy each time we spoke
