Bloomington Obedience Training Club

I am on week 9 of Flyball class with BOTC and honestly can't say enough good things. There was a waitlist to get started and it was well worth waiting. I dawdled a lot to start class because her biggest quirk from when I got her at 8 months old is an aversion of going through doorways and entering buildings. It is particularly bad when involving places that dogs frequent. We have worked a lot on building her confidence (no pun intended) but dog-centric indoor spaces are still a big challenge for her. I didn't want to ruin her confidence by trying to engage her in a class to early. However, within the first 2-3 classes she was completely comfortable with going to and from the building and she earnestly looks forward to class now. I can't say enough good things about this place!! I have trained 6 dogs through this place over the years and they do amazing work. They're patient and understand each dog works at its own pace. My dog has done obedience 1, 2, CGC, CGC-A/U, and is about to take her therapy dog test soon all thanks to this place!

I was very impressed and happy with my experience of taking Obedience Level 1 training at the Bloomington Obedience Training Club. All of the trainers are volunteers, most have been teaching for many years. It is very obvious that training us humans and our furry companions is their passion. During each class we had a primary trainer and 1 or 2 supporting assistants. This was amazing as their 1 trainer/assistant per 3 or 4 dogs was helpful during the exercises because we always received 1 on 1 tips/advice. I noticed in the reviews comments about the heated arena….yes, during mid-summer it gets warm as there is no AC….it’s a non-profit organization. We just finished a puppy skills 2 class at BOTC with Sara, Bri and Joe. The class was so helpful and the instructors were positive, energetic and great problem solvers. Wally learned so much and we will be signing up for obedience. All of the instructors here are volunteers and you can tell they love what they do!
