Berkshire Humane Society is probably one of the better shelters around. They are VERY clean and keep the animals safe and healthy. After being to a couple other shelters, they seem to have the best set up in my opinion. They have very modern rooms, and it looks like most of the cats get their own space which in my opinion is better than having them all bunched into a room where eye/respiratory infections are very contagious. It really seems like each animal is cared for individually phenomenally. The adoption fees are a little higher compared to New York and Vermont but I believe you’re adopting an animal that has been better observed, cared for, and safer health wise. Overall worth the fee! I’m so happy to welcome my new kitty Jinx home after my first passed away 5 months ago from FIP:(
A great place to adopt a cat, very sweet and attentive staff, special thanks to Bry. We adopted a very cute cat Polly, she took root in our house very quickly, almost immediately. All cats are very well-groomed and look good. All rooms are modern, bright, clean. Don't be afraid, come and choose the animals, there is also a very cute rabbit for your kids. Choose a new friend, you won’t regret it!
This shelter is not only the nicest, cleanest one I have ever been too, but the loving care given to the rescues is apparant. I recently adopted a 1 year old cat who is the happiest most affectionate pet I have ever had. Chanel was well cared for while sheltered and is just a delight. I was able to establish an initial bond with her in one of the rooms set up specifically for this purpose. Adoption fee was very reasonable as is includes spaying, chip, immunizations, medical care ( she had a torn retina) lots of toys and plenty of food as well as a free visit to my vet. I would encourage everyone to adopt a shelter pet.
This place is incredible! They take such good care of their animals! It’s a clean and updated facility. The staff and volunteers are passionate! It’s an amazing place to find a special animal that could become part of your family!
We love the Berkshire Humane Society. The building is very clean, animals all well taken care of, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. We stopped in on a weekend to look at the cats available and ended up taking home a new member of the family (pictured on the cat tree in BHS' interaction room, and then lounging on our floor wearing his new collar). They were even able to lend us a cat carrier because we were driving a bit too far for him to comfortably travel in a cat box.
