Barks and Rec.

I cannot recommend dog training at Barks and Rec. enough! When I moved to TC, I really wanted to find a qualified dog trainer to support the needs of my anxious rescue dog. A well-respected dog trainer in the GR area suggested Barks and Rec., and the rest is history. I now have three rescue dogs, each with their own unique medical and behavioral needs. We have taken nearly every class Barks and Rec. has to offer: Puppy Explorers (puppy socialization), Pup Scouts (dog obedience), Nosework (scent detection), Agility, Growly Dog (reactive dog training), and Rally O (competition obedience). The Barks and Rec. trainers are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and always have practical and creative solutions to dog behavior problems. I would recommend Barks and Rec classes to anyone with a dog! Alicea had amazing knowledge of dogs, behavior and training. Her facility is perfect for the classes she offers and she doesn't overbook classes so you get ample attention. I've taken both my Standard Poodles to agility (pre & level 1 each) and nose work classes. They were beyond obedience when we discovered her, otherwise they'd have that under their belts too!

My dog mom heart is elated at the progress Louie has made with Alicea. She is worth every penny and more. Thank you for working so hard with Louie. We look forward to continuing our journey with Barks and Rec!

My review is a bit different since we never actually got to have our puppy (Petra) in the training class we signed up for. Our puppy was not a fit for the social environment of the class due to some extreme anxiety Petra showed upon arriving for our first class. Alicea was very understanding and worked with us to make the situation a positive outcome. I appreciated her concern and willingness to help us when we needed it !

I can't praise Barks and Rec. enough. My shy 8-week-old puppy underwent a remarkable transformation in their "pup explorers" class. She was once anxious and scared, but now she loves socializing with other dogs and people, and her confidence has soared during this critical developmental stage. The trainers, especially Alicea and Emma, are not only passionate and professional but also make training an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Barks and Rec. for its dedication to dogs’ well-being and the exceptional socialization and training opportunities they provide.
