We love our local animal shelter - AHS! We have adopted a few animals in the last 12 years - 2 dogs and 1 cat! AHS makes pet adoptions so easy. Their new facility is beautiful and every time we go to visit we have a great experience with the staff and volunteers there. They care deeply about animals (& people) and do everything to provide the best care for the shelter animals and the community pets! Here’s a picture of our most recent addition! Thanks AHS for bringing these babies in our life!

I adopted my sweet girl from AHS a little less than two years ago. Halo (her name was Talley at the time of adoption) is the most adorable dog and such a beautiful addition to my life. The entire process was straightforward and easy and I was able to bring her home on the same day. It’s been two years since Halo stole my heart and with a lot of love and a bit of patience she has truly grown into the most incredible girl 🖤

Animal House made the entire adoption experience smooth, supportive, and genuinely warm. We brought home Smokey in early October, and he’s thriving. He’s a total ball of love, and we adore him. I work from home, so we’ve had plenty of time to bond. He often strolls over during the day to ask for more belly rubs and attention. At our first vet appointment, the vet even remarked that he was clearly very healthy and well taken care of. He has settled in beautifully and brings so much joy into our home — plus, he's a great "big brother" to the other cat in our household, Bandit. We feel lucky to have him in our family and grateful to all of you for the care you gave him before we met him.

We are extremely disappointed with our experience adopting from this animal shelter. We brought home two kittens, and shortly after the two-week policy period ended, both were diagnosed with ringworm and roundworm. To make matters worse, the ringworm spread to our other cat, and now we are dealing with the stress, expense, and time-consuming treatment for multiple animals. This has been an incredibly frustrating and overwhelming situation. Treating ringworm is not simple — it requires isolation, constant cleaning, medication, and repeated vet visits. It has completely disrupted our home. What upset us even more was the shelter’s response. When we called to inform them, they seemed completely unconcerned and dismissive. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no effort to offer guidanc

I have been volunteering for AHS since October of 2024. I primarily volunteer by taking pets to their vet appointments. I have also participated in various events that help raise funds for the shelter. Through volunteering I fell in love with a sweet adorable Yorkie named Hopscotch, who I adopted on Labor Day 2025 and renamed Finley Moose. By volunteering at Animal House Shelter you will be rewarded in many ways. Knowing that you can help out in any way is greatly appreciated by the staff and even by the furry ones you will find at Animal House. Maybe you will even find your future furry family member at Animal House Shelter!🥰
