Yuba City Animal Shelter

I am writing to express my significant concerns regarding the service I received from Yuba City Animal Control. Recently, my dog escaped through a side gate that a guest had inadvertently left open and she was picked up at the end of my driveway. She is tagged and chipped. She was then transported to Yuba City, approximately a 30-minute drive from my home. On Friday afternoon at 4:15 PM, an employee called to inform me that my dog was at the facility. I immediately offered to come and pick her up. However, I was told that the facility was closing and that I would not be able to retrieve my dog until Tuesday, when they reopened. Despite my pleas for them to stay open for just 5-10 extra minutes, the employee refused. Why would they want a dog to have to stay so many extra days when they

Excellent experience. I was unfortunately having to put down my 18 year old dog Doug down I was absolutely heartbroken. I saw a few small dogs I was interested in online so I drove down to the shelter and looked at what they had. I ended adopting another small dog. Staff told me about her and she is a total love bug I’m so happy I stopped by. All the staff were so kind the shelter was very clean and you could see the staff really cared about the animals in there care. I would definitely adopt here again in the future. This places is absolutely horrible. The staff were very disrespectful, and not professional whatsoever. Today me and my husband decided to look for a kitty to possibly take home. However, when I was holding a cat one of the staff came in the room and said the cat is getting adopted and took him out of my lap (which i understand it wasn’t a big deal). Then me and my husband went to the next cat room and they had unlocked cages. We really liked this one cat he was so adorable so we opened the unlocked cage and let the kitty rub on us. There wasn’t any sign saying don’t open the cage, and they were unlocked. We didn’t think anything of it because we didn’t let the cat out and we were being gentle. My wife and daughter and I have been looking for a second dog. Our Shih tzu passed away last year and we moved since then. It was time for another one. Our other dog was lonely too. The Yuba City Animal Shelter was very nice and helpful. We adopted “Oliver” for $10 Another $40 deposit until he’s old enough to get neutered and then when we show proof we get it back. We also got him chipped for $15 So a total of $65 Here’s our little guy. 😊
