Fostering for Waggytail for the past couple of years has been such a wonderful and rewarding experience! I have a senior dog (14 years old) and a 6 year old cat. So it took me a while to get into the hang of having fosters in my one bedroom Brooklyn apartment. I have fostered puppies twice and I often foster pairs of kittens. Right now I'm fostering two adorable 5 week old kittens that were pulled from the ACC on the first day of their lives! Another foster and volunteer from the organization had them for their first three weeks, and when I was confident I could provide adequate care for them, we transferred them to me once my other two kittens were adopted. I would say if you want to foster, you truly have to understand the limited resources that the rescue can provide (mainly, money). W

Peak pandemic 2021, my partner and I had a very hard time getting approved for any dogs as we started our search for our perfect pup. My partner and I both work from home most of the time (him every day; I'm in office once a week) so we felt we were pretty good prospective adopters. But still, we weren't approved for any dogs we sent applications for. Then I spoke with a friend who had adopted his second dog from Waggytail Rescue. He recommended them so we checked them out and we saw the most precious dog on their site. We read her bio and knew we would be wonderful parents for her. They got back to us the next day whereas other rescues would not contact us at all for several days/ weeks. Highly recommend them! They really do their due diligence to make sure pets are going to good homes. In my case, they also put me in touch with the cat’s foster so I could learn more about the cat’s personality and meet her to make sure it was a good fit. Finally, even after adoption they’ve been a useful resource for questions and stay in touch for updates. I ended up getting the world’s most perfect cat for me :)

I cannot say enough good things about Waggytail Rescue! They are extremely kind, prompt in their communication, and attentive to every single animal in their care. I reached out about one week ago to inquire about fostering and heard back from two different volunteers within the hour. Fast-forward one week later, and the dog I fostered is now officially adopted! We instantly fell in love. <3 They provided so many resources and checked in throughout the week, as well. Thank you Waggytail for helping my family and I find our fur baby! I've been looking to adopt a dog for quite some time now. I've applied on various rescue sites, but never received a response. I was close to giving up, until I stumble upon Waggytail. I saw an adorable picture of a puppy, and thought "let's give this another try". Within 2 days I was contacted by Ashley, who was nothing short of amazing in helping me with the adoption process. I provided all information that was needed and in less than a week I was connected with the foster, Kim. Kim was so kind and patient with me. She explained all that I needed to know prior to taking my new pup home. She provided guidance and reassurance and made me feel at ease and confident to take on this new role as a pet owner.
