Vetco Vaccination Clinic

We haven’t been established with a vet in Virginia yet as we have just moved here recently from NC. I decided to give vetco a try to get my cat in for simply her annual shots and maybe save a little money in the process. I can’t speak for all vetco locations but do NOT waste your time at this one. Incredibly rude and unprofessional staff, when you can even find them in store. It seems they are better equipped to handle dogs so maybe that would be a better experience but they should not accept cats then. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAT HERE! Just wait for an ACTUAL vet appointment and they will treat you and your pet as you should be.

Today I took my cat in for his vaccine, but before I even took him out of his carrier, three staff members decided not to treat him. They said, “he hissed, so he will bite us,” which is ridiculous. My cat is normally calm and has never bitten anyone — he only hisses from stress, which is completely natural, and he didn’t show any aggressive behavior at all. I’m sorry, but refusing service just because a stressed cat hissed, while wearing gloves and without even opening the carrier, is both unprofessional and laughable. If that’s the case, then your clinic only accepts “perfectly behaved” animals. (He’s a cat, not a person!) Hello, my name is Tyga, and I’m just a cat. I’m saying this because today the people at this clinic treated me like I was supposed to act like a human. Before anyone even touched me, I hissed a little — only because I was stressed and anxious (and there was a damn dog nearby). But instead of understanding that, they refused to give me my vaccine or care for me at all. I’m just a cat, dude.But instead of helping me, they told my mom and dad, “We can’t able do this,” packed me back up, and even sent us away without giving me my drop medicine. That broke my tiny orange heart. 😿

This was my first time going to Petco for vet services and I had an amazing experience! I was taking a new kitten for shots and testing, and my appointment was so quick and easy. The staff is amazing and they clearly know a ton about the animals they’re caring for. I can’t recommend enough if you are looking for low cost services with a staff that is very experienced! Thank you all again :)

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were very gentle with our puppy.
