We cannot say enough about the incredible team at VCA SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Center. Our dog, Thor, had to be transferred there during the New Year's holiday, also one of the busiest days imaginable, and yet the moment we arrived, they welcomed him with urgency, compassion, and genuine love. Despite the chaos of the day, the front desk staff checked us in quickly and kindly, never once making us feel like an inconvenience. The nurses, doctors, ultrasound team, and X‑ray techs treated Thor as if he were their own. Even in the middle of a packed holiday schedule, they took the time to comfort him, speak gently to him, and reassure us every step of the way. Our fur baby had been acting rather strange for a few days. Our veterinarian advised that maybe he needed to see a specialist for an MRI of his back/spine. We headed over to VCA SouthPaws Veterinary Specialist office. The staff was professional, knowledgeable and very compassionate towards our 🐶 and the entire situation. Was advised to do an observation for the next week or so and come back if he continues to show any symptoms of pain or discomfort. The doctor(s) here are truly doing the lords work to give a voice to the voiceless. I highly recommend VCA. The vets and staff were so kind and supportive. They took the time to answer all of our questions and patiently explained all of our options. We had to make some very difficult decisions and I could not have asked for better care for our beloved dog. For anyone reading this, I know it’s so stressful to need emergency care for our fur babies. I can’t say VCA was inexpensive, but I can say they treated our beloved golden doodle with all the care in the world. Highly recommend.

The finance & front desk team were kind. I 100% feel scammed regarding the cost. Care seemed cold. Not sure we would come here again. *UPDATE: -1 star, We took our pet to a different Hospital today (1 day after the visit at South Paws) and the contrast in care was concerning. Our dog was much more relaxed at the hospital today, compared to his stress at SouthPaws. We were able to be present during the exam like all other hospitals we’ve taken him to. We received proper and efficient information and significantly better pricing on bloodwork & other labs. We kept thinking about how much we regret taking him to SouthPaws esp after seeing the quality of care received at the hospital today. I’ve brought several dogs here over the years for emergency visits and they have always been great. Last Saturday, I had to bring my nearly 15 yo whippet in when she became unable to walk or respond. After giving her an IV and evaluating what was happening with her, we ultimately came to the difficult decision that it was time to say goodbye. I’m always impressed by vets, who do a wonderful job consoling their patients while also having to administer the meds to put the animals to sleep. We had Dr. Whitney who was kind, wonderful and really patient. The entire staff was great…from the time we walked in, to our departure.
