I arrived here on January 23rd in a state of absolute crisis after my 12-year-old dog, Ziggy, had been severely mismanaged by another clinic in Elmont. The intake was seamless. They immediately took control, and a team of doctors and residents performed a thorough evaluation. For the first time in weeks, I received clear, honest answers within an hour: Ziggy had a heart-base mass and incurable lung issues, vital information my previous vet failed to communicate. The emotional support here is unmatched. They recognized my distress, placed me in a private room, and even had their in-house social worker, Robin, sit with me. 5 stars for the doctors and the care, this place is fantastic. They know what they are doing, friendly, caring, so dedicated to doing what they can to help your animal. 1 star for everything else. Out of their control and not their fault is the price. For an emergency blockage surgery, we were charged $20k. You read that right. $20, 000 and that was minimum, could go up, and had to pay upfront. As if I wasn't already in a stressful, upsetting situation that felt near impossible, the price pushed me over. To know that they are taking full advantage of you in a dire situation was torturous as I needed to make a really difficult decision. It's never a good thing when you need to take your fur baby to see a specialist, but the doctors and staff at VCA do everything in their power to provide high quality care with kindness and sensitivity. I hope that you will never need their services, but if you do you can rely on the knowledge that they will provide great care... I can’t say enough positive things about this hospital—they truly saved my fur nephew’s life, and my family will be forever grateful. Our beloved dog was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease and arrived at this facility in critical condition. He required multiple blood transfusions and intensive, round-the-clock care. Thanks to the exceptional team in the ICU, he received phenomenal treatment. The doctors were incredibly knowledgeable—more informed and compassionate than some human doctors I’ve encountered.
