I cannot speak highly enough of Urgent Vet in Newport News! On Thanksgiving day, when our dog suffered a significant injury, I called just hoping to find somewhere open — not only did they answer immediately, but they spoke with genuine care and empathy, reassuring us that they were there and ready to help in any way they could. When we arrived, they saw our dog right away and provided fast, excellent care. The entire staff was attentive, compassionate, and efficient, which meant so much to us during such a stressful situation. What impressed me even more was that two days later, they called to check on him and make sure he was healing well — that level of follow-up and kindness is rare and deeply appreciated. Their dedication and professionalism truly made a difficult day so much easier
I had to bring my shiba here because something happened to her eye and it was swollen. I had been up since 3pm the other day because I work third shift. I can’t remember the vets name, but I think the technician name was Tiffany. They were both very kind and treated my baby with such compassion. She has only been on the medication for a couple of days and she is almost back to her normal self. 10/10 would recommend.
Very impressed with not only the facilities but the staff. I brought my cat in for urinary issues and was helped by Tiffany. She was so extremely kind and patient. She took extra time to sit and talk with me not only about my cat, Jinx, but also about Cathy, her littermate that we had to let go only days earlier. I am so extremely grateful for her kind words and how deeply she cared for both my kitties and me. Having to take one cat in so soon after losing her sister was terrifying and I truly believe Tiffany was the only reason I didn't have debilitating anxiety the whole time. She kept me informed throughout the entire process They also called me the next day to ask how Jinx was doing. That was entirely unexpected and very kind. Overall I am extremely impressed with Urgent Vet.
My favorite chicken unfortunately had a prolapsed vent with an egg stuck. There were no vets around that specialized in poultry. This is a true emergency with a very limited time window to correct. While calling around, the doctor at UrgentVet got on the phone with me, asked questions about what was going on, told me she didnt specialize in poultry but would be willing to see if she could help in any way. The staff was amazing and they did everything they could for my sweet girl. Ultimately, she went peacefully and didnt have to suffer a miserable death. Thank you to the wonderful vet and staff. It made a hard situation a little easier. I would highly recommend this practice!
Mixed feelings about this vet. Check-in was quick, the wait wasn’t bad, and my vet tech (I believe her name was Elaina) was absolutely amazing. She explained everything clearly and kept both me and my very nervous cat comfortable. We came in after a spay due to a lump near the incision, and she reassured me it was likely a harmless seroma. Unfortunately, my experience with the veterinarian was the opposite. He came in without an introduction, barely looked at my cat, and quickly stated it could be her bowel protruding. After an ultrasound, I was told with certainty that my cat needed surgery. When the vet tech returned, she explained they weren’t 100% sure and that their ultrasound equipment wasn’t as advanced as a full-service emergency vet’s. That disconnect in communication caused unne
