Very well kept and modern facility. The animals here appear to be very well treated and in excellent health. However, if you hope to adopt, make sure to wear your best Sunday clothing and be on your best behavior. These keen eyed sleuths will scrutinize your every word, action and mannerism leaving you in awe of their Holmesian abilities. My daughter and I attempted to adopt a cat here about a month ago and after being reassured that our selected cat would be ours after some routine medical care, it was given away to another family. Apparently, my lack of enthusiasm and waiting in the car while my daughter filled out paperwork raised some eyebrows. That was the essence of what they told my daughter in a subsequent phone call. Awesome staff, Director & Animal Control officers are a wealth of knowledge (vet techs) and hold many certifications, and passion. Best TNR program in NY. Kudos 👏 to the town board as well for trailblazing. Other towns should take note.

I recently adopted a kitten from the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter. It was a wonderful experience! Everyone there is so pleasant, kind and knowledgeable. The fees were so reasonable. Just visiting you can see they give excellent care to the animals. The facility is very nice and well kept. I highly recommend Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter to any one looking to adopt a pet!

I have to give a shot out to Smithtown Animal Control. They were so prompt and professional today when we had a deer stuck in our pool. They helped ensure the deer got out safely and were just awesome. Thanks!
