We were faithful customers for 8 years, and trusted them with our sweet, curious, 35 lb pup. During the past year, when he came back from overnight boarding with small scratches to his neck, we assumed it was rough play, and that they would inform us if anything else was going on. Long story short, his neck kept getting worse, and he now has a large permanent bald spot there. We should have figured out he was worse each time he came home from boarding, but the vet thought it was allergies, not self-inflicted, so we didn't put it together. Then we left him there for 3 nights and he came home with a severely inflamed flank. My Mother lived 20 minutes away from me, and I had a new energetic untrained puppy at home - that could not join me at my Mothers home. *I waited a couple of months to get my thoughts in order before I made this review and if I could give it a ZERO STAR I would* I had high hopes for Metro Pooch in Guilford, CT, especially given their fancy facility and high-end image, but my experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. Despite my puppy attending daycare multiple times a week, they would not guarantee she would be accepted for boarding especially when I already had trips lined up for the fall. That’s right — even after building familiarity and routine with the staff and facility, I was still told she might not be allowed to stay overnight. The team at MP takes great care of my pup. My dog always is happy upon arrival and departure weather she’s going in for a groom or being dropped off to play with the pack. I also appreciate that they send out communication to update their pack parents on current events that could affect availability.

Professional, attentive, competent, and warmhearted...only START to describe the staff and management of The Metro Pooch. We recently boarded Lily, our 2 year old Shorkie for a two night stay. We met with the staff a day before dropping her off so that they could perform and monitor a temperament test, where she would be introduced to other similarly sized dogs for two hours. She played well with the pack and came home exhausted. We dropped her off the next day and expected the feel sad about parting with our pup for the first time, but when we walked in the sounds and smells of the other dogs made her eager to get going. We never had to feel apart from our pooch as we were able to monitor her on the ODoggy app...GREAT touch. We paid for a full grooming during her stay and Lily came home
