The entire staff was exceptional. My daughter was worried about her leopard gecko so we made an appointment. They were on time, facility was clean and pleasant, the staff was very nice and knowledgeable. The pricing and recommendations were explained thoroughly which we appreciated. We would recommend this place a thousand times and will return should we need any further assistance.

Cannot say enough wonderful things or give this vet enough praise. We took our dog Stewart here last year when his vet unexpectedly closed and they were so accommodating and wonderful. We took our cat Igor here recently and they were just as wonderful; as a cat owner, oftentimes vets seem like they don’t give as much attention to cats as they do to dogs, but not Tails and Scales – they loved Igor from the moment he walked in and were so attentive to him, his needs, and the questions we had. Dr. Echols is wonderful and the entire staff is so caring. We are so happy we have such a great veterinarian for our boys.

Overall, the experience at this black women owned veterinary clinic near DC was exceptional. We booked a wellness visit for my daughter’s juvenile bearded dragon. Not only was the center clean and well-maintained, but we were greeted warmly and arrived at the appointment about 20 minutes early. The staff took us back before our scheduled appointment time, which is always a plus. Both Dr. Echols and her assistant Kim were friendly and knowledgeable. It's reassuring to know that our beardie will be in great hands whenever we come to this clinic.

Scales & Tails Veterinary Clinic in Hyattsville is the real deal. Professional, compassionate, and refreshingly honest—no rushed visits, no upselling, just excellent care and clear communication. Special shout-out to Dr. Echols, veterinarian, whose knowledge, integrity, and hands-on approach set the tone for the entire clinic. You can tell she truly cares about both the animals and the people who love them. Grateful to Ayieta Crawford for the referral—absolute home run. If you want competent, ethical veterinary care without the chaos, this is the place.

Recently moved to the area and was adamant about finding a Black Vet for our dog - man am I glad that I found this awesome place. The 1 to 1 personable service I receive makes both me and my dog feel taken care of and loved. There are extremely knowledgeable, professional, transparent, and overall awesome folks working there. Thank you to Dr. Echols and Ayieta for being amazing. Found a forever doctors office for my pup!
