Stafford County Animal Control

after going through a hard year last year, my bf and I had to surrender our animals to this shelter, 4 months later we got them back. staff seemed too busy to pay attention to people in line, and as soon as I asked for my two cats that I’ve raised from birth, they told me I could only take one because they have “ behavior problems & don’t get along with other cats, the girl had an attitude and also felt her judging me when I first spoke to her. I asked to speak with someone else higher up and they had no problem with me taking them, especially because the shelter is full. I’d just spent over 500$ getting my cats prepped to their new home, so I wasn’t going home without both of them. Signing papers for adoptions and fees were easy and set to go. Best animal shelter I've ever visited. So clean, and you don't even smell any animal smells. Very friendly staff. If you love guinea pigs, you need to see the two sweet, pretty females they have. I would describe them as calico and torti in color, and they come right up to the glass and talk to you! ❤️

Update!! I have now adopted two more cats from them ^_^ a senior male cat named Gus and a fiesty tabby named Jack. I couldn’t be happier! It’s been two months and the cats have been perfectly blended into our now 4 cat household. This place absolutely loves the animals and wants the best for them. I recommend the Stafford county animal shelter to everyone I know. ————— I am so beyond happy I found this wonderful place. I have high praise for Stafford Springs Animal Control! My daughter was rear-ended on the highway a few months ago and had to be transported by ambulance to the ER. Her cat was with her, the carrier was damaged in the accident, broken glass was everywhere, and she got loose. Her kitty was obviously very traumatized (and she can be a difficult cat under normal circumstances!) but animal control staff safely captured and rescued her and kept her safe for almost a week until we could make arrangements to pick her up (we live out of state). They are directly responsible for saving this kitty’s life and preventing tragedy for my daughter and our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for saving the day!

It was a long ride from Chesapeake va. But the staff was awesome, and we absolutely love our girl. Once I got there, they let me take her for a walk, and it was a no brained from that point..
