SPCA Humane Organization

I adopted a dog at the $250 fee. She came with kennel cough, fleas, she was super super dirty. And if you know anything about animals and kennel cough, it can turn into pneumonia really quick and cause them to pass away I am going to hold this organization responsible for the dog that I adopted. But I strongly suggest that if you're looking for a pet go somewhere else. Do not go to the Sumter SPCA. Not only is most of their staff rude. But from what I understand the manager that runs the place absolutely hates anybody that walks in there for any reason. That's just my experience. You could have a totally different experience. But we have adopted four dogs from this place and every single one of them came home with kennel cough and fleas. Thankfully, all the dogs survived the kennel cough.

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding a troubling experience I had at your facility Tuesday, November 18, 2025, involving my dog, Andrés. I arrived at 5:15 PM to have his nails trimmed, and two staff members a younger female and a bit older heavyset caucasion woman, were present at the time. Instead of taking Andrés to the back, where he could be placed in a safe and controlled position for the trimming—as has always been the practice—they attempted to restrain him in the front office. As this was happening, I could hear one of the employees growing increasingly frustrated with him. She was openly fussing at him, chastising him, and expressing extreme irritation. This escalated to the point where she abruptly threw up her hands and stated loudly, “I’m done.

The staff are great here. You have to go buy and even if your not looking to adopt stop in and say hi to the animals. We stop in every time we are close and see the kittens to kitties and puppies to doggies. If you can donate please call the staffs number for what there needs are. Thanks

I go here almost every day, except on Wednesday when they are closed and on the weekends when my daughter not passing by there to force me to go look at puppies. She wants a puppy so bad, but we can't right now, so we go there to just love the 🐶 and 🐈 The photos will tell you more about our visits and the beautiful puppies that are there for adoption. I just donate when I can. You should too.

They took in 8 small puppies that my husband found abandoned on the side of the road left to die. Thanks to these people these adorable pups have a second chance. They did lose one sibling. It was dead when my husband picked them up. Thank you all so much for helping these helpless baby pups. Just an update, I called back to check on these 8 pups and these wonderful people had found homes for all of them within two or three weeks!! I'm so happy to know they have a second chance at a good life..
