We took our 7 year old German Shepherd Dog in for a paw injury. First visit he was a being unusually uncooperative, standoffish, and in a lot of pain. We decided to bring him back in today for X-rays under anesthesia. Our Amin is sensitive to sedatives and I expressed my concerns. They were very kind and listened to my concerns. We just picked our boy up and he is doing really well compared to previous times we have brought him home after anesthesia. Our experience has been positive with everyone involved. They treated us and our grumpy boy with respect, kindness and care. I get very nervous when he goes in for anesthesia based on past experience where he had adverse reaction. Disappointed. Came in new patient (I just moved to SF) with my dog scratching himself to the point he’s bleeding. She checked for fleas, negative. Saw a rash on him. After they did a a consult the vet looked in his ear and he was crying with pain, something very abnormal for him. I asked her why and she just proceeded to say that it looks like nothing’s wrong and to give him some sort of medicated bath. I’m hoping the bath fixes the skin, but it’s clear some things wrong with his ear. I will likely go to another clinic, but regardless I basically felt like I left there with no more answers

We've been going to here for 17 years. They have helped all our pets live long happy lives. Our Australian shepherd passed last year but lived well past her 16th birthday. Our other Aussie is 15+ and the cat is still going strong at 17+. Get on the waiting list and keep your pets with you for as long as you can.

My cat Pickles is now healthy and happy due to the care that she receives here. She had severe stomach issues for years and none of her previous vets offered an explanation but were happy to run expensive tests and treat her symptoms with expensive medications. Within five minutes of our first appt at SF Pet Hospital the doctor asked if she ever was diagnosed with IBS and of course I said no. The vet gave us some meds and Pickles has been healthy and stable ever since. She’s even gained all her weight back! I’m very happy with the care my cat has received here and would highly recommend them to any pet owner.

Arya (our doggo) loves Dr. Robert Leyba, and that’s saying a lot because she hates the vet. Dr. Leyba is such an affable and knowledgeable vet. His “essence” is joyful, and you can feel his passion for pets! Can not recommend him enough! Your pet will be in great hands!
