Rivertown Feed & Pet Country Store

Great place to shop for all your ag and pet needs. Tons of brands. High quality hay, feed and bedding. Super helpful staff. Quick in and out (except that you’ll want to stay to shop!) with lots of help out in the yard. The owner, Don, is great. Supports the community in many ways. I was looking for a different can cat food for my 16+ year old cat. She's very picky and usually doesn't eat wet food. Recently, she quit eating due an infection. A friend gave us a can of food and she loved it. It's very hard to find but Rivertown had it. I tried several online vendors, but no one had it. If she continues to love it, they said that they would be happy to order it.

So frustrated. They sold me tainted alfalfa hay that had white powdery mold. I questioned the foul odor of the bales they wanted to load first. I could smell the foul odor. When I asked, the nice manager gave me alternative bales that seemed to be OK from the outside. But on the inside they had white powdery mold. This is so dangerous for my sheep. I don't understand logistics of alfalfa harvest, shipment and storage but I need to be able to trust the prodicts are safe for my animals to consume. Next time I'll just go get a refund and seek safer products elsewhere. Over the years staff have always been consistently friendly and knowledgeable. I really like this store but I am frustrated with the hazardous feed.

I really wanted to give a higher rating however my last trip here was disappointing. I live 2 hours away and I called ahead to pick up some feed that isn't stocked at stores in the South Bay. I decided to pick up some timothy pellets and when I got home discovered they were moldy. When I called the store to explain my discovery and requested a refund they insisted I bring the bag of moldy pellets in. Kinda hard when you live 2 hours from the store and only get to the north bay a few times a year. So if you live far from this store inspect your purchase carefully so you don't get burned like I did.

I've gone to this place for a number of years for different reasons; bird, bunny, dog and cat supplies and accessories - always a healthy selection. And if you crave distractions there is a fun koi pond and (at different times of the year) baby chicks and ducklings. Just a fun store to browse through - very well organized 🙂
