We went here today to see about adopting a dog. We have a pitbull mastiff mix and a black mouth cur. They wanted to use choker leashes to control our two dogs instead of allowing us to control them to meet the adoption dog. I explained to them the black mouth cur had hip dysplasia and the pitbull mix was skittish around people he doesn't know. That was completely ignored. Neither of my dogs are leash dogs, we have alot of space for them to roam and they're super obedient and loyal. Immediately my black mouth cur started pulling against the choking leash and didn't understand why it was choking him. The woman holding the leash pulled back making it worse, causing him To throw up three times. This was while the woman running the show, Ashley, was holding onto our bitbull mix, pulling him the

I am not the breeder of this cat, but I personally witnessed how Richmond Animal Care & Control handled the situation — and it was extremely troubling. The breeder of this early-generation Bengal attempted to contact RACC immediately, identifying herself, explaining the circumstances, and telling them she would provide the contract as soon as she returned home. Despite that, none of her calls, voicemails, or emails were answered. Watching a shelter completely ignore someone who is actively trying to take responsibility for their own animal was unacceptable. What raised even more concern was the disconnect between what RACC stated publicly and what was communicated privately regarding how the cat entered their care. When information shifts depending on who is being told, it becomes very d

Found a loose dog without an address on the collar. We were able to bring him here, and the staff were very friendly and helpful in helping him get back home, while making the process very easy for us. Visited the kitties up for adoption while we were there and were very impressed with how clean everything was and how well cared for the animals seemed.

We've had consistent great experience with RACC over the decades - fostered a kitten who we adopted way back, she's now 16; adopted a senior cat about five years ago but she's sadly passed away. They have a very active volunteer and donations program and are readily available with assistance and answers for the community. Keep updated on their Facebook page with the happenings and you will see what I mean. A very valuable community resource and definitely worth supporting when you are looking for a pet. Adopt don't Shop!

My parents and I had the most incredible experience here with an adoption. Saw our sweet girl posted on their website the day after she was first posted. Made contact via email and had great communication with all questions answered. We made the drive and couldn’t have been more pleased with the facility and staff! The folks here clearly have a heart for the animals in their care! We made our adoption and couldn’t be happier! Thanks everyone at RACC!!! Our “Faith” has been given the forever home she deserves!
