Precious Pets Almost Home

In May of 2022 our family was looking to add a young cat to our home. We visited PAWS twice but just didn’t “click” with any of the cats we met at that time. I had 2 friends that had adopted their cats through Precious Pets, so I decided to look into them and I’m so happy I did! I love that they’re a foster-based rescue. The application process was lengthy but integral to finding the best fit for our family. I appreciated that they took the time to “vet” us and figure out what would work best for our family. It showed me that they truly care about where their animals go and want the absolute best outcome for them. We were looking for a cat to join our 2 cat, 1 toddler (at the time) home. From the moment I reached out, the volunteers were kind, responsive, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s heartwarming to see how much love and care they pour into every animal, despite being a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization. The adoption process was smooth, thoughtful, and full of support. They truly take the time to ensure each pet is going to a safe, loving home. The dedication of the team is inspiring—they work tirelessly to give these animals a second chance at life. I emailed this rescue for advice on homing a cat I’m fostering. I explained that I’m getting him neutered and vaccinated myself, and just needed some guidance. I accidentally mentioned the wrong rescue name, but the rest of the info was clear. Their reply gave no advice—just a cold response. For a group that says they care about animals, it was really disappointing. Even a basic list of resources or next steps would’ve helped. Having a simple protocol like that could go a long way in saving more lives.

I adopted my little guy several years ago and had a very positive experience. It takes special people to commit to rehabilitating and finding furever homes for animals who don't have one. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to do this with often very little information. I found PPAH to commit to doing the right thing by the animal and taking the steps to ensure the home is a good fit. Their priority is the animal, as it should be. They didn't know much about the kitty I adopted other than he had a rough start in life. It has been a commitment on my part to continually help him feel loved and comfortable in his home. I adopted from Precious Pets Almost Home a year ago, and had a wonderful experience. The interview and screening process was extensive - they called all references I gave them, and did require proof from my landlord that my lease accepted cats. However, as part of that screening process they listened for exactly what I was looking for, and were able to recommend the perfect cat for me. I am so thankful for the hours that the volunteers spent with me on the phone and in person with the foster - it can be hard to find a good fit for your home, but I found mine thanks to PPAH! As he was fostered rather than kept in a shelter, I knew exactly what kind of personality he would have, and had support from PPAH throughout the first few weeks of his time at his new home.
