Prairie Paws Animal Shelter - Ottawa KS

I adopted a kitten called “key lime pie” in November of 2025. They made the process super simple. They work with the local vets so I was able to get her first examination for free. Everyone there was very kind and helpful!! They gave me tons of toys and food as well which was super helpful! Thank you so much Prairie Paws. I love my girl so much. Her new name is Junie B Jones & she is so incredibly loved 🤣🩷🩷

Prairie Paws was a great place to adopt. We found our new cat family member there about a month ago. It was clean and everyone we worked with was great. I would recommend them to anyone looking to adopt. A very good experience.

My husband and I adopted Cooper almost 3 years ago and he changed our lives for the better. The staff was very patient with him as he had been surrendered by his previous owner, I could tell he felt safe in their care. When we first arrived, he stood behind the worker and she was very gentle with him. The entire process was smooth and they were very helpful. He is truly my soul dog, and I will forever be grateful for Prairie Paws for helping us find one of our furry best friends!

We adopted are baby boy Lucki and it was the most amazing experience. My 2 lil boys were very excited to meet and take are baby boy home. The staff treated us like family and we will be back when we're ready to get some kittens and a puppy. We absolutely recommend this shelter they are a no kill shelter as well.

They will adopt you an animal with medical issues without telling you or “unknowingly”. They did attempt to stitch my babies prolapsed rectum but put it right in the middle of his butthole causing impacting poop 1/3 of the size of his body so I took him there to be “hospitalized” and they told me they’d give him back when he was cleared and flat out asked them to promise me they wouldn’t euthenize him without trying to actually help him.. I followed up with them several times always got the run around and yesterday they said they adopted him out to someone else!! Knowing me and my 4 yr old wanted him back. Knowing my car broke down and I was able to get a new car by the weekend, which is what they’re referring to when they said “I could not meet the medical demands”, etc. I believe they ki
