Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary

I have been to Poplar Springs many times for a group tour, the Open House, and Thanksgiving with the Turkeys. Each time it has been a delight. They have kind and helpful staff and volunteers. All events have been well run and enjoyable. They care for the earth and all beings who inhabit it!

We visited the Sanctuary to volunteer in honor of our son. It was his birthday weekend. He passed away in April 2024. He loved animals. Poplar Springs is a beautiful place !! You can tell that the animals are loved there. We are looking forward to going back again.

This is my favorite place!! The animals are so loved and well cared for and have the final and wonderful forever home. Their thanksgiving celebration the weekend before thanksgiving is always a huge hit with hundreds of people and amazing food! Turkeys eat first and then you get to feed the pumpkins to the pigs 🥰

Took a tour here and had such a great time. The animals are friendly and adorable; They'll walk right up to you, and you can pet them and feed them leaves! The volunteers are so passionate, and our guide told us all kinds of stories about the animals, their personalities, and how they got there. The people here really care about the animals, and I feel lucky that they opened their doors to us! Looking forward to their events and am even considering "adopting" an animal. ♥️🐐🐓🐖🦃🐄

It's a gorgeous 400-acre property bordering the Potomac River, plus a historic home, amazing barns and facilities. The animals have center stage! There is a tour most Saturdays that you can join. It's at 1:30p and $10 cash pp. Just go to the website and email them to join the tour. The owner shows you around herself and staff are available to help you hold or interact with the animals!
