PetSmart Grooming

Great in a pinch and recommend, especially for a large double-coated dog- coming from a PSA competitor. This is a review for dog owners- and when I say that I mean DOG owners, as in my house is based around my dog, my car is refitted around a kennel, and we travel and participate in various events and sports. With that said I am an advocate and believe everyone should learn how and do their own grooming (within reason/possible) for their dog. However, when you can't you can't and that was the case for me today. With spring shedding I just can't keep up, and then my under coat rake got stuck around her hind and I suspected matting. I even thought she would need a shave. My girl is an 85 lb imported GSD and believe when I say I am PICKY when it comes to her care. I've never done grooming

I brought my dog in for grooming and a bath. This was only the second time she has ever been groomed, since I have an Australian Shepherd and they do not require frequent haircuts. The first time, I had an excellent experience and was very happy with the results, which is why I decided to return after about a year for another grooming. Unfortunately, this time the experience was very different. The person who groomed her did not seem experienced with properly trimming an Australian Shepherd’s coat. We only requested light trimming behind her ears, around the sanitary area, and a small cleanup on her legs, nothing excessive. I don’t like leaving bad reviews on places especially after only one poor experience but I want other pet parents to be aware that if your dog is anxious in kennels please reiterate it multiple times. Our last groomer informed us that our dog was extremely anxious in the kennel so when we arrived for our next appointment today we told the groomer available that she is fine during her grooming but gets very anxious in the kennel. We got a call that she was done just under 3 hours later, and we always wait in the plaza for her so we don’t have to make her wait. Our groomer tells us over the phone that she was in the kennel for 30 minutes when they checked on her and noticed she had been non-stop scratching the cage and her paw was cut and bleeding, but she cleaned it up. This is TWICE where I show up during business hours and all their grooming staff is gone. Why are you advertising business hours that you don’t even honor. Shows they disrespect their customers time. Came in on 2/20/26 here and 2/21/26 at other location both places staff left before normal hours. Both front desk workers at each store didn’t seem to care that they just randomly go home wasting peoples time. How corporate gets this under control.

The only two people I would trust my own dog with in this salon are Julia and El, please keep in mind that this is a corporate store, there’s no such thing as a grooming certificate, you can’t be a “certified groomer” because it doesn’t exist, the new grooming trainees are not equipped to handle difficult dogs or even young puppies at times due to their lack of experience, some of them should’ve stayed as bathers, but this place doesn’t want skill they want intrapersonal relationships to be the best first, I honestly am not bringing my own dog back
