I visited the self-wash station at Petco Verona in New Jersey, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I paid for a full self-wash, but when I first started, the water wasn’t working and I had to ask for assistance. Then, while rinsing my dog, the water stopped again. I had to notify an employee so she could call the manager to fix it. After finishing the wash, the shower area was full of water, so I had to move my dog to another station just to use the dryer. The dryer had almost no airflow. I informed an employee again, and she said she would call the manager. Ten minutes later, I still had a wet dog and no solution. When the manager finally arrived about five minutes later, he told me to use towels to dry my long-haired Goldendoodle. I paid for a full self-wash service

After 2 years of no issues, Petco has lost my business today. Had a grooming appointment for my 4lb Maltese dog at 11am today. Upon arrival at 10:45am, was told that the groomer Angela had not arrived yet and so I had to wait. So after waiting 30 minutes, Angela FINALLY walks in at 11:15am in no rush. Proceeds to go to the back and then comes out and tells me that she cannot cut my dogs hair because he's "too stressed". Yes, you read that right. My dog was "too stressed" lmfaooooo Meanwhile my dog was in my arms calm and has been going to this petco for 2 years with NO ISSUES. When we had originally arrived, he was barking because there was two other dogs and he wanted to play. I carried him around the store so he can smell around and then he calmed down. I recently bought some dog cookies and ice cream from Petco for my pup’s birthday, and they were a huge hit! They looked amazing—beautifully decorated and almost too cute to eat. My dog absolutely loved them, and I appreciated that they were made with safe, high-quality ingredients. They were the perfect treat to make his special day even better! I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend for any pet parent looking to spoil their furry friend!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this Petco location. I dropped my dog off for grooming at 1 PM and was told he will be ready in 3 hours. I decided to go back at 4:30 PM because I didn’t receive a call. When I came back, I could hear my dog barking from the back, and only then was I told they were double-booked and hadn’t even finished with him. No one bothered to call or communicate this at any point. To make matters worse, they told me my dog had pooped in a kennel — something he has never done before. That tells me he was sitting in there for far too long without attention. Instead of apologizing for the lack of communication or the long wait, they acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging me. This review is only for the self wash stations. The process is straight forward and easy because you just pay the $20 at the register and you and your dog can go right up to one of the 3 stations if they’re not in use. However, the dryers didn’t work, and the communal shampoos and conditioners are in watered down in bottles and I’m not sure how often they’re washed out and cleaned. My dog developed a skin infection (furunculosis) 2 days after and her back is covered with crusted over lesions. If you have to use them, please make sure you bring your own supplies. I just spent $2K at the emergency vet and another $600 at my regular vet to get this treated. Go at your own risk.
